jules101
Two hands where opps open 3m non vuln, next hand doubles and third hand raises to 5m (could be good expecting to make, or preemptive - you are on a guess!) What action do you take in 4th seat and why? Hand 1: [hv=pc=n&e=st62haqj84d9763c5&d=s&v=e&b=3&a=3cd5c]133|200[/hv] Hand 2: [hv=pc=n&n=s832hq9732d8cq943&d=e&v=0&b=14&a=3dd5d]133|200[/hv] I look forward to your thoughts! pooltuna
hand 1 is close but I would bid 5♥ hand 2 needs a lot from partner I would take the low road and pass
Cyberyeti
hand 1 is close but I would bid 5♥ hand 2 needs a lot from partner I would take the low road and passAgree, if I should be bidding over 5 to make on hand 2, partner will double again. paulg
I would bid five hearts on the first hand, but think it is minimum. The vulnerability increases the chance that partner has a proper double and the opposition make take a save to six clubs. Second hand is an easy pass and I'd pass a second double too. I presume that these are imp problems from yesterday's National Swiss Teams!
MrAce
1-Dbl 2-Pass Singleton/doubleton vs singleton is discouraging
nigel_k
Double on the first and pass on the second. I really don't like 5♥ on the first one. It seems quite likely to turn a plus into a minus, and neither the plus or the minus need necessarily be small.
MrAce
In order to have a reasonable chance to make 5♥, we need a big hand from pd, not a 4441 or some 3451 13 hcp. Bidding 5♥ now will not only turn a plus to minus as Nigel said, but also has the danger of being lifted to 6 by pd. DBL doesnt mean "i have ♣ suit pd" it means cards. Also, no need to mention that stronger hand of opponents is behind our pd. Lets give pd a decent hand AQxx Kxxx AKx xx or AQxx Kxxx AKxx x or even stronger and all prime hcps AKxx Kxxx AKxx x we still have too many losers for 5 level. ahydra
At teams, I'd probably pass and pass! Perhaps a bit wimpish. At pairs I double on the first hand and pass the second. ahydra
Phil
1st I'd double but would bid 5♥ with a 6th heart. I need a good reason to turn a plus into a speculative larger plus. 2nd is a pass unless you had some bizarro forcing pass agreement.
