I hold

S AQTxxx, H AQTxxx, Cx

partner opened 1D at the first seat. RHO overcalled 2C.

I x,

LHO bid 3C, pd pass, RHO bid 5C. I bid 6C. pd bid 6D, then I bid 6H. all pass except RHO x. pd put hand down.

S KJXX, H Jxx, D KJXX, C KXX

I guess the bidding is not right. How to bid it to the right contract?

I think 2 is right the first time. Maybe 6 the next time. Or 5 if you're timid.

For the benefit of the OP, game-forcing hands with extreme length in the two focus suits don't work out well during the auction if you start with a negative double. Your given auction was awkward, illustrating the point. 2S is at least forcing for one round for most people, and then you can show the hearts at whatever level you need to.

It is preparedness, very important when choosing your first action.

If I'm forced to double: Over 5C you have a choice of 5NT or 6C. I prefer 5NT, which is clearly pick a slam. Then, when you correct 6D to 6H, partner will know you're asking for a choice between the majors.

6C is in some way a grand slam try (since you have 5NT as pick a slam without being a grand try). You have no club control, and 6C sounds like you do have it. I can also see partner not being as sure that you want him to pick the suit, but that maybe you're just making a grand slam try in your own major.
