AAr
1. If you registered for the tourney, and are Offline at the starttime, but then get Online and register as a sub, do you have the same chance to get in as somebody who was not registed at starttime, or do you get called later? It seems to me that if were registed but were offline, you get called after everybody else (As I rarely get called when I do this, and I often get called quickly to sub otherwise), but is this really the case? 2. Just for verification to be sure: Is the only way to sign up for a tourney after it starts is as a sub? Thanks!
inquiry
I will try to answer number one, but the question is so twisted, I am not sure I got it right. Here is what I think I read.. "After a tournment starts, can I use the registration desk to sign up for it, or do I have to use the signup as a substitute". The answer to this is that the registration desk is closed when the tourney starts, so you have to use the substitute signup. Question two, the answer is the sublist shows in the order signed up. There is no recongnition of who might have been signed up for the tournment and then bumped because they were offline. Here is a secret that will help you sub into tourneys... Send a private message to the tourmenent director.. tell them you are waiting in the lobby (not kibitizing) and will be GLAD to subsitute for them... when hey need a sub, they get a list of names, not all will agree even when they are on the list.. some are kibitzing the hands they will be subbing on. A director, having gotten such a private message from you will pick your name everytime (I think) unless you are black listed for some reason. hotShot
I don't think the TD knows what players enlisted but did not show up. So i don't think there is a chance to select someone later. The odds are that all players from partnershipdesk list as sub as soon as the tourney starts. So at first there are lots of subs und the chances are smaller to be picked. Later the number of subs is smaller ..... You can sign up for a tourney as soon as it is anounced. That is 10 Minutes usually byme, and several day for some of the regular events. uday
The TD does not know who registered and did not show up (or , who registered and whose partner did not show up).
tenbrvc
Wait a minute! I don't understand two things here. :-) 1) Are you saying that if you register at the partnership desk for a tournament, and if you are not paired up when the tournament has started, that you are then moved automatically to the sub list? 2) When you click on the "Show substitutes" box, that people from (1) above are listed first, and then the sub list is in the order of who applies first? uday
1) No. The sub list is independent of the partnership desk. When a T starts it initially has no subs regardless of how many unmatched players were in the Partnership Desk. 2) No, because players from (1) are ignored. The remainder are listed (i think) in the order of who applies first. At least, i believe the invitations are issued on that basis if the person requesting the sub does not specify the name of the person to be invited
hotShot
to 1) No, but may players that could not register on time, register as sub as soon as possible. So usually at tourney start there are lots of sub's.
