Flame
This is a nice double dummy. If you get it right, you will know, so maybe you better not kill it for others too early. You are in 6♥ and west leads a diamond.[hv=n=sakqj6hd8765432ca&w=sh5432dakqj109c1087&e=s1087542h9876dcj62&s=s93hakqj10dckq9543]399|300|you play 6♥West lead A♦[/hv]
inquiry
When EAST shows out on the first diamond, this is double dummy without showing the hands I think.... Ben
Fluffy
SadlyI knew this one from long ago, here is a small variant, but this time is defence: [hv=n=sakq3hd98765432ck&w=s97hj97532dkqj10c9&e=sj8642h10864dc10743&s=s105hakqdacaqj8652]399|300|[/hv] The contract is 6NT, defeat the contract after a ♦K lead. inquiry
Win Diamond ACE, Cash AQJ of clubs, throwing diamonds from dummy, and a club to EAST.. If he leads spade jack, win in dummy, come back to spade Ten.. if he leads low spade, win Ten... if he leads heart, claim... Can the defense really hold the day? Fluffy
I am so sorry, I made a mistake on the hadn, this is teh real problem: [hv=n=sakq3hd8765432cak&w=s97hj97532dkqj109c&e=sj8642h10864dc10943&s=s105hakqdacqj87652]399|300|[/hv]
Fluffy
If you are talking about first deal Jimmy I think you are wrong, it is doble dummy for all players, east won´t be endplayed with ♣J, more likelly west will cash 4♦ tricks. This surprises me so much, since a ♥ discard leads to exactly the same problem you posted with the same solution for declarer.

Flame
and on the real hand, man i must be too tired to understand the problem... either east ruffs the diamond or he doesn't... if he does, go to A, K of clubs on board and lead spades... if he discards it looks like you can play the same line There are usually no ruffs in NT contrcts. xx1943
HiI'm a bit confused and not sure, who is talking about which hand.I have seen no solution for the original 6♥ (or did I overlook something?) and I'm very interested, because I can't solve.Al
Fluffy
well jimmy, you have only 5 trumpsoppponents have 4so after first tricks you have the sameand have to draw trumps, after that you are virtually playing NT
luke warm
well jimmy, you have only 5 trumpsoppponents have 4so after first tricks you have the sameand have to draw trumps, after that you are virtually playing NT i'm lost... i count 6 trumps in hand with the ♣A on the board... trump the first diamond, play ♥A throwing ♣A, play K, Q♣ (leaving 3) and another, throwing west in (east unblocked the J)... seems to work to me

Scoring: Unknown ♠ AKQ3 ♥ [space] ♦ 8765432 ♣ AK ♠ 97 ♥ J97532 ♦ KQJ109 ♣ [space] ♠ J8642 ♥ 10864 ♦ [space] ♣ 10943 ♠ 105 ♥ AKQ ♦ A ♣ QJ87652 are u sure this is the right hand? i cant see any way to make this I think you missed the point... you are to find the defense that defeats any line declearer plays. luke warm
evidently he means that in addition to no way to make it, there's no way to allow it to be made if east throws the deuce of spades on the first diamond, then it makes... outside of that i see no other way
inquiry
evidently he means that in addition to no way to make it, there's no way to allow it to be made if east throws the deuce of spades on the first diamond, then it makes... outside of that i see no other way If EAST throws a heart, it also makes. If East throws a club, it also makes, if East throws the spade JACK it also makes, so in fact, EAST has to discard at trick one the Spade 8, 6, or 4 or else it will make. Quite a small difference between he can't throw only the spade 2 or else it makes. But really, the first problem is more interesting than the second.
