Asking too much?

partner is telling me we've found waldo with a 1H opener. Is Kxx KQxxx - Jxxx really too much to hope for?

IMO no, I'm bidding 5C and if he bids 5D I'm bidding 6H. It is true that asking for Kxxx KQxx x Kxxx is too much. But the best way to find out if its a void or just a singleton is to bid 5C. Either 6H after 5D, or passing his 5H bid.

:P You can easily visualize six given your hand. The problem is how to invite. Pard should have no ace, so you have to intice him to cooperate with the right hand composed of kings and queens. I think maybe 5 is best. That's where the trouble may lie. Two black kings or one black king queen combo covers your black suit losers. A fifth would be gold. I would rather bid 6 than pass.

If partner has a diamond void you do not need that much for slam. If partner has 5 trumps and a diamond void you need nothing for slam. This is another spot where having a void showing splinter available as a PH would be extremely useful. As it is we have no 5 level safety opposite a stiff diamond so I would just sign off.

I find more hands that make slam than hands that go down at the 5 level. The problem is that I can'r barelly see how bidding to the 5 level will improve my knowledge of the hand, partner will hardly play me for 3 aces and nothing else whatever I bid, so all I can do is bid 4 and await partner to rebid diamonds with void.

People are asking for wrong magical hands with singleton, the real magical hand is K Kxxxx x K, or convert a black king to the other black queen.

I would bid 4, but to me some hands like Qxxx KQxx x Kxxx are 3 bids, not 4.

You don't need much across for a slam, but pard also doesn't need much to make a splinter when he's a passed hand. Kxxx Kxxx x Kxxx might be enough from this point of view and opposite this 5 is in jeapordy.

You need pard to have extra shape (void or 5th heart) or a magical max (K KQ K) for a slam to be good and I don't think we can sort it out. So I sign-off.

Being able to show a void at 4 level or lower is the key to many successful slams. Actually, IMO, it may win you tons' of IMPs if you have this gadget and your opps don't.

Do you think you have enough for a slam try here? Or is it asking too much?

Well, partner had:

Only one pair were in the slam (making it) but several made 12 tricks, as West's natural lead was the queen of clubs.

You have the club ten and 9; are you sure West was listening to the auction when he decided his "natural" lead was the queen of clubs?
