Beyond the fact that 4♣ is awful, does this hand deserve to go to the 5 level or shall we try to defeat the game we, apparently, pushed them to? mck4711 Posted September 8, 2011 Report Share Posted September 8, 2011 - Pard did not bid 1♥ or 1♠, therefore denying 4 card-major suit.- Pard did not bid 1NT, showing a balanced hand with values - by tendency - in ♥ and ♠, that NT-bid doesnt mean though that pard doesnt have support for ♣- Pard did raise to 2♣, showing by tendency an unbalanced hand, HCP like 1NT, I expect something like 1345 or 2335, with values rather in minors -> therefore: pass. To pass here would be to admit that all our effort was in their behalf and not on ours. It's a bit silly, I know, but a bidder's gotta do what a bidder's gotta do. aguahombre Posted September 10, 2011 Report Share Posted September 10, 2011 sounds like pard has a mixed 5-card club raise...about a 7 count or so, and did not want to bid a 3C preempt over the double. Nothing suggests 4♣, much less five. The most you can possibly gain is -500 vs -620. If the sac happens to be right, pard has to bid it.
