cloa513
Does anyone care that GIB can now open 1 NT with 5422? Should they have bothered with that when GIB has some many faults to be fixed (some of which might be fixed).
barmar
It's called "low hanging fruit". Some things are simple to change, so working on them doesn't really affect the time it takes to address the hard problems.
mgoetze
Yes, I care. I want myself to be the one opening 1NT, not GIB. Also, the less the enemy GIBs know about the possible shapes of my 1NT openings (5431, 6322, 6331, etc.), the worse they defend, and thus my results are better. barmar
I don't think we should be programming GIB with the caddy system. (For those unfamiliar, it used to be common at ACBL national tournaments for the junior stars to play with novice caddies in midnight games, and have them play a system where the caddy's bids are all transfers, while the junior's bids are natural, so the junior would always be declarer. Yes, I know this is not a legal ACBL system, but midnight games tended to be "just for fun" and they were lenient)
