jillybean
V vs. N, partner opens 1st seat, you hold void, JT854, AKJ72, QT2 1♥ (P) 2N* (3♠)4♣ (P) 4♦ (P)5♥ ?
JLOGIC
Good general rule, when they have bid one suit and we have not cuebid it, a jump for 5 demands a slam bid if partner has their suit controlled.
jillybean
Ok, that's good - this was the hand [hv=pc=n&s=shjt854dakj72cqt2&w=sat6543hd65ca9764&n=sqj98hakq962d83ck&e=sk72h73dqt94cj853&d=n&v=n&b=5&a=1hp2n3s4cp4dp5hp6hppp]399|300[/hv]

That's nice. I've never before seen it explicitly said like that. I assume this could have gone bad if Jillybean had a stiff spade.
mich-b
Good general rule, when they have bid one suit and we have not cuebid it, a jump for 5 demands a slam bid if partner has their suit controlled. How do you continue after the 5M jump when you hold a 1st round control of the suit? Show your number of aces? bid 5♠ (their suit) ? cuebid in another suit? Do you have a way to show that you have a void and not an Ace?

You can cuebid 6m also implying first round control. I would bid 5N with the protected SK. No, I do not play any way to show a void rather than the ace, in this auction there is probably room to do it though if you want.

And in this auction, since I had first round control I could have bid 6♦/5♥?

And in this auction, since I had first round control I could have bid 6♦/5♥? Yes, just raising to 6♥ normally shows a 2nd round control (probably a singleton). With a 1st round control you can cuebid 6♦ , or maybe 5♠, to suggest that even a grand slam may be makeable. JLOGIC
Why not? I assume he would splinter. If you have no way to show short spades after 2N, han is probably right.

Cyberyeti
Does anyone play that 2NT denies a singleton or void?I play denies a void, would have started 1♥-3♠.
jillybean
I assume he would splinter. If you have no way to show short spades after 2N, han is probably right. In the past I would have always splintered but I have found with a slammish hand a splinter often takes up toomuch room and I do better going slower and using J2N. I would happily splinter on a weaker hand.
