I don't mind N bidding 3d - seems reasonable to make it even harder for opp's. N would prolly not X 2h - but may consider X 3h.

South bidding 3h is even in IMP a little to hard.

You might consider starting to play something like USP in the future. That way you wont be considering anything but pass from south :-)

South's bidding is fine IMO.

North did too much but his actions are understandable. 3 is tactically necessary as they could easily have a game, but you really hope partner passes it. 3NT is unlikely to make but often 4 won't make either.

South 100%

If you ask your partner to bid 3NT when he has a stopper, than you should better stop the (, and ) yourself.

North 3 bid is ok.

He knows that partner can't have many , that opps are likely to have a fit (not in but in a black suit) and 3 ain't that risky and opps will never find their fit now.

50-50

hate 3d strongly prefer 3h

hate 3h by south.

You both deserve each other..:)

Your post takes up too much space, off with spaces and separators.

The tone also is inappropriate for B/I forum; the smiley in the end does not really repair the problem. Just my opinion.

agree with nigel. lol at people who think south has overbid.

Can you perhaps explain a little m8 ?

As I posted earlier, north's 3d should be destructive (atleast if you play usp, unnasuming cue or something like that) - and south's 3h bid is in my way to hard.

If south think his hand is worth sooo much, why not x and bid dia after ?(would also be wrong though)

Im sure north could something else if he wanted to invite for game after the dia bid - and very wise he did'nt :-)

South 100%. North's raise is not only normal but necessary on this hand: if he passes East has an easy double and N/S are headed for -140 instead of +110.

At imps and these colours we strain to bid 2 instead of 3 with the kind of North hands that South needs for game so I agree.

A lot of water went under the bridge before our partnership worked that agreement out.

Changed my mind. East gets 70% for not doubling 3

South 100%. North's 3D looks completely normal, I really don't understand the notion of bidding 3H with such poorly placed heart honors. As hotShot said, if South is going to ask for a heart stopper on this auction, he better have spades stopped himself. EW could still find the spade fit after 3D, but if so they might get too high with less room to investigate.

Thanks for the replies. I'm surprised at, but unconvinced by, those who feel I made the greater overbid (and baffled by those who can assign South 100% with a straight face.) Give pard xxxx Axx xxxx Qx or similar. Raise with a minimum, fine, but a WORKING minimum, not with a hand you have every reason to suspect is a working 1 count.

I actually put it in this forum because I thought it was too 'obvious' for the adv/exp forum. Who could know.
