PassedOut
Obama will have no serious challenge from the democrats. Even if the democrats wanted to, dumping Obama would alienate enough voters to ensure defeat for the replacement candidate. Perry will certainly crush Romney, Santorum, Gingrich, Cain, and Bachmann. And Ron Paul contradicts other republicans much too often to get the nod. The question remains, though, who will be on the vice-presidential tickets? Biden is a big help for Obama in working with congress, but perhaps not a big help in attracting votes to the ticket. And the democrats might want someone who could compete in 2016 whether or not Obama loses. Hard to figure who that might be though. My guess is that Perry will pick someone like Tim Pawlenty or Mitch Daniels. It will have been four years since the US had a Texas republican in the White House. Here we go again. I think that Mark Rubio would be their best choice for the VP slot Choosing a latino governor might help deal with some of the anti immigrant baggage that they part is carrying around. It's going to be interesting watching how the Perry campaign unfolds. Perry has been very effective in keeping himself locked away from the press (he refused to debate his Democratic challenger during the last election in Texas) Personally, I don't think that Perry should be viable on the national stage. His jobs message can't be generalized outside Texas (we're not all going start putting oil wells in out back yard)His a religious nut case and was playing around with secession...He is genuinely stupid

Would help with both hispanics and Florida voters. Personally, I don't think that Perry should be viable on the national stage. kenberg
In case there are others such as myself who know very little about theman, here is a collection of views. See correct link in the post below. This starts with Ezra Klein's own thoughts, then there is some other stuff, then a collection of people spouting off. Sort of like here, actually. luke warm
a lot of people were hoping rubio, or christie, would run... either would be good choices as vp, regardless who gets the nomination, though christie likely won't be interested... in spite of richard's hater post, i doubt the dems can afford to go to sleep on perry Is a first-term senator really qualified to be VP? Oh... wait... never mind...going by recent events, i'd say no

Winstonm
It appears with this latest "Bernanke is treasonous" claim that Perry believes the key to winning this election is a direct appeal to the American Idol/Jerry Springer/700 Club fanbase. What frightens me most is the thought he could be right.

He seems to be approaching campaigning as: You think Michelle is crazy? You want crazy? I'll give you crazy.

He seems to be approaching campaigning as: You think Michelle is crazy? You want crazy? I'll give you crazy.Yes, he's already come this close to blowing his opportunity. Starting this thread might turn out to be just another example of my foolishness. Rick Perry, global warming and those durn scientists Whenever scientists get together, Perry seems to feel, you can tell that they are up to no good. They tend not to reemerge until they’ve made a nuclear bomb or electrocuted a boxed cat or come up with special relativity. What was wrong with regular relativity? That sounds dangerously postmodern. There’s logic and proof, sure, but then there’s the feeling you get in your gut, and that is what counts. Science won’t keep you warm at night, except the small area of science that is responsible for your central heating system. :)
PassedOut
Let Perry and Romney talk about job creation and science. Michele Bachmann knows what people really want: $2 gas "Under President Bachmann you will see gasoline come down below $2 a gallon again," Bachmann told a crowd Tuesday in South Carolina. "That will happen."And ice cream cones will cost a quarter.

blackshoe
Found this video amusing. And here's an article on the same topic. While I agree that Paul is unlikely to win the GOP nomination, why do the media think they have the right to decide for whom we should vote? The media's job is to report what's going on, not to selectively edit reality to fit their own agenda.
kenberg
The video is hilarious. I'm really not up for abolishing the fed, I'm not a revolutionary sort of guy, but the video is hilarious.

I watched that show with my son and Stewart's commentary was right on the mark in my view. The media coverage is absolutely unfair to Ron Paul. Media: Just report what actually happens, please! Winstonm
Now the good reverand Perry is bragging that HIS state teaches creationsim and evolution, and that he thinks kids are smart enough to figure out which one is right. Meanwhile, here in good 'ol boy Oklahoma, Perry has a huge lead in the Republican Presidential polls. It seems the bible belt Republicans support a return to The Dark Ages, while the Democratic Party has no idea what it supports, but it kind of likes the 1980s version of Republicanism - and the album Best of the Bee Gees. At what exact point in time did America lose its collective mind?
