pirate22
[hv=pc=n&s=saqjt6h2daq9865c2&n=shakqt974dcaqj987&d=e&v=0&b=14&a=p1dp1hp2sp3cp3np4cp4dp5cp5dppp]266|200[/hv] Opps totally innocent-needless to say a real disaster-i was south and decided to open 1 diamond-and redid 2spades. as the bidding continued and had heard my partners bids of hearts and clubs, time to call it a day and signed off with 3 n/t................... now i am getting confused when partner continues. when the dust had settled 5diams well off 5/2 break :):) I remained quiet, and my partner had a red connection, and a sub came in--later i considered my partners bidding-we do not play WJS i think the bidding should proceed-p-- 1dia--p--2hts p 2sp --p 3cl p 3n/t p--4n/t p 5hts{2aces}-- now pard should bid 6 hts/7 hts-or 6 cl.but prefer 6hts.. Agree this is a hand from Ghoulash today-and unusual that opps did not chip in, and not being wise after the event..2 things stand out 1..to open 1 spade, takes up to much bidding space hence the 1 diamond opener.....2 partner when he hears 1diamond opener.... and with a void in the suit, should be very wary.plus in this case two voids..... i rest my case. whoom is mostly to blame ...
manudude03
Well, I can tell you for starters your recommended auction is absurd (3NT is in another world, and 3C for a lot of people is not natural anyway, and then even if 4NT is blackwood, it's pointless unless you can and do follow up with some search for the ♣K). As for the actual auction, I would just rebid 1S in a goulash. Continuing on, I'd bid 3S over 3C. If partner bids clubs again, I bid 4H and the auction may stop or arrive in 6H depending on feeling. If North decides to investigate, then 4NT-5H-5NT-6H-Pass
Cyberyeti
We'd bid 1♦-1♥-2♠ but for us it shows a 6-5, 2 decent suits but not a great hand. It would continue 3♣-3♦-3♥-4♥-5♣-5♦-5♠(will be shortage here as skipped spade cue over 4♥)- 5N(A♠)- 6♣(bid grand with a club honour)-6♥. This is the normal bridge auction, not sure whether I'd bid this confidently given the dealing method.
TWO4BRIDGE
Is a 1♠ rebid by Opener not forcing ?
Cyberyeti
Is a 1♠ rebid by Opener not forcing ?We play 1♠ forcing, but 1♦-1♥-1♠-1N-2♠ shows a better hand than the immediate 2♠ rebid which isn't forcing by our methods (although is rarely passed). aguahombre
At some point when North is through trying for any science and/or torturing South, he could just blast out 6H (when North leaps to slam he is not interested in South's pointed controls). I don't think North's 5C was forcing, so should do it then, instead.
pirate22
interesting replies---pards heart suit is self supporting opp a possible void. however-i think to bid clubs again is somewhat wrong.it is putting the screws on partner

Yu18772
The old "What do you call an eight card suit?" saying comes to mind (and yes there are 7 of them, but still...).
Zelandakh
This is the second Blackwood with 2 voids thread from pirate22. The last time the suggested auction was ridiculous; this time it is, as earlier suggested, quite absurd.
whereagles
4♦ is an error. You don't look for a fit this high. Just bid 4NT, which should be TO PLAY.
the hog
Who on earth was Sth? This bidding is surreal firstly as 2S shows a far better hand, secondly that 3NT is really bad.If you don't like opening 1S, at least bid 1S over 1H and then repeat spades.North is little better - 3C is not natural for most pairs. Finally North should bid 6H at some stage, probably over the ill advised 4D. Seriously I think both Sth and Nth need a book on elementary bidding.

MrAce
Looking at the title of this topic, and then looking at your 2♠ bid, i think you are a very optimistic person.
gnasher
Where's gnasher when I need him ? 1D - 1H2S! = GGG ( Gnasher's [ artificial ] Gameforce Gadget ) Andy, how would this auction continue ?I didn't invent the idea of playing 1♦-1♥;2♠ as artificial - the idea has been around since the 1980s or earlier. Playing an otherwise standard system, I'd suggest using 1♦-1♥;2♠ as a 3-6, a game-forcing one-suiter, or a game-forcing raise. Responder normally relays with 2NT, and then something like:3♣ (other minor) = game-forcing one-suiter3♦ (opened minor) = invitational 3-63♥ (responded major) = game-forcing raise3♠ (other major) = game-forcing 3-6or you could use the space more efficiently but more artificially - that might allow you to find out about singletons below 3NT. If you play 2♠ as artificial, a corollary is that 1♦-1♥;1♠ as forcing. On these two hands that does provide a bit more space:1♦-1♥1♠-2♣ (FSF)2♠-3♥4♣ (agrees hearts, says nothing about control)If responder now cue-bids his voids and then makes a grand-slam try, opener will accept thinking that he's facing at least one pointed-suit king. Instead maybe responder should try exclusion in diamonds: -5♦5♠-5NT (specific kings)6♥-pass
