swanway
EBU This problem happened during a recent Sims event. A board was played for the first time. It was scored but the players did not check that their hands corresponded with the hands on the traveller. After the next table had played the board they discovered that all the hands had been switched. It was not the fault of the previous players but an error by the people who had prepared the hand. But how do you score it? It was felt that the first table should get A- A- and the second table should get A+ A+. Others felt that the first table should get A+ A+ and then given a procedural penalty for not checking their hands. What would you have done? If the board can be played as is- there is no need for doing anything except correcting the hand record. Otherwise there are fouled comparisons to deal with. blackshoe
Is this an event played at multiple sites? If so, you have a "fouled board" problem in any case.
Finch
If this weren't a simultaneous you would score the first two tables in their own baby section of two results. However, I doubt you can actually do that in a sims, so: I give the second table A+/A+, that seems clear. Technically I think the solution of A+/A+ for the first table plus a PP for not checking the duplication is probably correct. Their laxness has caused another table to be unable to play the board, so even at a club I would impose a penalty for that. Tehcnically A+ plus a 20% PP is not the same as A-. bluejak
In a Sim Pairs any board that is not played in its correct setup is not scored.
swanway
In a Sim Pairs any board that is not played in its correct setup is not scored. In the problem recorded above the board could be corrected at the second table and then it could be played by the players at the remaining tables. Are you saying that is not allowed in Sims? bluejak
No, of course not. But the original scores cannot stand, which of course they could and should if it was not a Sim.
