I'll have to bid 3nt, cant see any other choice. duck 1 or 2 spades and hope atleast one of the minors run. But if both the minors are running, then you have a minor slam, but 3nt will not allow you to investigate that.

I can see some proponents of opening 1d with such hands (4-5 in minors), then there is a more comfortable 4c rebid available.

If still double i bid 4♣.

If p has xx ♠ he needs a good hand for the t/o double.

I expect a minor fit.

If he has something like x kxxx axxx kxxx pass may be one down, 3nt at least one down and 5 minor a good contract. With extras he can make a slam try.

If p has a bad hand something like xx kqxxx axx axx i yell at him (and count the downs on 3♠

wtp pass. this is a fine hand to defend with - i have a singleton and i control the first round of trumps. we should be able to get 300 without breaking sweat and typically more, when 3NT may be going down.

 

bidding 3nt is silly odds - your upside is 3Sx is only going for 300 and you make 430 or some such for 4 imps.

 

you may worry that 6m is making, but bidding 3NT is unlikely to get you there. if 6m is cold, you congratulate LHO for sticking it up you. pre-empts work sometimes.

Anything can work here. 4m, 3NT or pass are all possible.

 

Now, assuming LHO has an half-decent preempt (i.e. KQJ 7th) this will probably go down at most 1-2, so I think I'll bite and bid on. Probably 3NT then.
