Zelandakh
You're going to have to tell us what your agreement for 4NT is here. I am assuming not natural...

G_R__E_G
We are taught not to bid Blackwood with a void. We aren't taught that we shouldn't bid it with two voids so that 4NT call is obviously reasonable.

pirate22
having 2 voids comes up every day.. my 2cl bid was normal, but i Fell of my chair when pard bid 2diamonds, so 4n/t was blackwood. partners response was 5 diam {1 Ace}ifelt 6 diamonds was "Kosher" and im with a new partner.....and ruled out 7 diamonds... however we recieved 83% 7 diamonds was cold[hv=pc=n&n=sakjt8h642dkjt5cq]133|100[/hv] Partner when the opening lead of a heart-also fell off his chair, and took a little time to consider his play. west now got very "Huffy" and wrote in chat "Hurry up" with further chat "that we cheated"??? then followed it up, when i said i would report him for verbal abuse, and undue pressure, He then typed in "Verbal abuse F*ck off hows that for verbal abuse" I rest my case

Zelandakh
What do you feel was achieved by launching RKCB on this hand? Is there any response partner can give where your next bid would not be 6D?
nige1
Partner when the opening lead of a heart-also fell off his chair, and took a little time to consider his play. west now got very "Huffy" and wrote in chat "Hurry up" with further chat "that we cheated"??? then followed it up, when i said i would report him for verbal abuse, and undue pressure, He then typed in "Verbal abuse F*ck off hows that for verbal abuse" I rest my case Is this an accurate chronology of events:Pirate22 was dealt ♠- ♥- ♦ AQxxx ♣ AKxxxxxxPirate22's partner opened 1♠ and rebid 2♦. Pirate22 raised to 6♦ (via Blackwood). When this dummy appeared, declarer went into shock.A defender eventually asked him to hurry up.As dummy, Pirate22 told his partner to claim +1.The defender accused Pirate22 of cheating.Pirate22 reported the defender. The defender told pirate22 to ***** off. IMODeclarer's shock is understandable but he should play faster.Defender's impatience is understandable but he should bottle it. As dummy, Pirate22 was wrong to coach declarer. But nothing can excuse the defender's accusation and rudeness.

I am not surprised your partner was in shock. Is this a posted hand to complain about your opponent or to display how not to bid a grand, or both?It is "softly softly catchee monkee". The monkey definitely go away this time.
semeai
Blackwood on this hand is so bad it is funny. I am not surprised your partner was in shock. Is this a posted hand to complain about your opponent or to display how not to bid a grand, or both? I thought the thread was about using blackwood to try to confuse the opponents into doubling, but you would have to bid 7 for that to work, I'd think. In any case, I thought the recounting was funny, though not because anything was bad. Of course one could remember to bid 5NT grand slam force if you and your partner play the same responses, but failing that it doesn't much matter how you bid, does it? pirate22
my apologies to all...it haS been mis read. I state again......... when the opening lead came. and dummy was exposed- my pard now fell off his chair, and he took a full 90 seonds to decide how to play it. WHEN THE OPPONENT ON MY LEFT said Hurry up in the chat. I replied in chat-its the last hand and we have plenty of time. Then my pard plyd the hand slowly, but not that slow. the opponent on my left again said Hurry up. TO WHICH I PUT IN CHAT-IF YOU HAVE A PLANE OR A TRAIN TO CATCH "claim no tricks" and we can all go. no way did i direct my pards line of play.or suggest 13 tricks were available... Have reported the opp for his further uncalled remarks

jdeegan
:D "..........and when it comes to slaughter, you'll do your work on water, and you'll lick the bloomin' boots of them that's got it." and that's just from my memory. I love Kipling. A proper modern appreciation of his white man's burden concept can help everyone understand today's world. However, on this side of the pond, we are a nation of immigrants. So, we are sensitive to ethnic slurs, even if unintended. One thing I love about bridge players is that they are almost without exception completely modern when it comes to their views about the human race. We share a game. We play it as well as we can. No nation or race seems to have any particular natural advantage. When Deng Xaioping, the big guy in China in the 1980's and 90's, played a few hands with my former insurance agent and friend, Bob Hamman, it seemed like a really good omen, and so it turned out to be. As I live so close to Burma, (in Lao), or Myanmar as it is now called, these stories have special significance for me.
