Please guys, stop LOL-ing and redouble LOL-ing, before Lurpoa and her gang start hijacking this threat. This is a good question.

Told you... Perfect thread ruined by this this silly loving font abusing why-asker...

This is just the hand type I use 3D for: good 6+D, weak Majors, 14-18.

There used to be a game in "Whose line is it anyway?" where all sentences had to end as a question. Wouldn't it be fun to reply to a question with an associated question?

Would that not hijack the thread?

Back to the OP, I think this hand is an obvious 1D opener playing bog standard precision and an obvious 1C opening in Meckwell precision.

What's the distinction you're making? Do you mean in Meckwell precision you open lighter, so 1 should also be lighter?

Bonus points for the double-obvious!

In essence yes. Meckwell precision has alot more upgrading than traditional precision so it is normal to open alot of good 15 counts with 1C. Traditional precision was much more steadfast about 1C being a 'power' opening with very few 15 counts being upgraded.

Meckwell may or may not have chosen correctly; but where and when to draw the line is the main issue under discussion.

Meckwell primairily upgrade their non-opening hands to an opening bid, they don't change their 1 behaviour.
