N may have bid 1NT at the table but I can't remember. Please indicate if vulnerability makes a difference. Will post the full hand later. whereagles
Dbl is a bit of a gamble. This is a part-score hand, you have no fit and opps seem to have hearts breaking badly. Even then you'd have to be sure what pard is going to make of double... I say pass.
ArtK78
I can understand the reluctance to sell out to 2♥, but where are you going? You already bid 1♠ and partner had an opportunity to bid something else at his second chance to bid. Besides, he may have 4 (even 5) hearts. I give up, reluctantly. 2♥ could be our best spot. han
I would double if partner bid 1NT and hope that partner can pass. We have roughly half the deck and our points are all located perfectly, this could be a bloodbath! Moreover, I expect 1NT our way to make, and it is not clear that at the other tables EW will bid over it. Scoring +50 could easily be bad, +100 may be good and +300 is certainly great. If partner passes then I would pass as well, this seems clear.
aguahombre
If the "?" was in fact 1NT by North, then I would have doubled 2C and let partner decide what to do over 2H before it got back around to me. Partner's 1NT advance after the negative double would have been on real values, and this is a cooperative auction with all doubles penalty oriented. If the "?" was a pass by North, there is no reason to have done anything different earlier or to do anything at all now. kayin801
[hv=pc=n&s=skj872htdq65caq98&w=sqt96hkq9654dt94c&n=s3ha873da732cj542&e=sa54hj2dkj8ckt763&d=e&v=0&b=14&a=1c1sd1n2cp2hppdppp]399|300[/hv] The E/W bidding was suspect. My thoughts were right in line with Han's, nothing looks well placed for them. It's not like we have any place better to be. But we need a club lead to beat it? and that is unlikely. Bad luck that we're screwed with the spots? That partner couldn't have the 9 of hearts? That declarer is void in clubs?
aguahombre
Isn't the tap with a club lead much easier if South doubles 2c?
