gwnn
Why do you think your 'downvote/upvote' adds anything to the conversation. If I wanted to add something to the conversation, I would have replied. I wanted to express my like/dislike of a certain reply, so I downvoted. Downvoting means "I don't like this reply", upvoting means "I like this reply". Very simple. At least my upvotes/downvotes. For ArtK78 upvoting often means "I don't understand why this post got downvoted".
matmat
I need more than 20 negative votes.Actually, I'd love to see a bar graph of up/down votes cast. I know I use up nowhere near my quota of either kind (*hangs head in shame*).
jillybean
I once had one of my carefully written masterpieces maliciously downvoted by an internet bully. This act of terrorism had a profound effect on me. Tears were shed. Sleep was lost. Work was missed. Coping mechanisms were employed and reemployed. I was left scarred, emotionally and spiritually. I became convinced I would never be able to love again. Hey, it is interesting to see that you are being upvoted on your poetry rather than your bridge contributions. :P
Aberlour10
Everything has been said, the only open question is : Will there be more Up/Downvoting threads than new Ratings threads this year heh;-)
wickedbid1
There was a very simple question posed by someone. Is pass forcing here? The reply to the question was "you are joking right?". I thought that was not a helpful post and it was slightly rude so I downvoted it. Unfortunately the downvote police arrested me. The downvote police handcuff and gag u. They throw u into their van. They drive around with the GPS turned off, discussing water-boarding, tazers, Byzantine Blackwood, and o/e discards with doubletons. It is traumatizing. p.s. I got away when they uncuffed me cuz they needed a fourth. While my pard was coping with a doubled slam, West forgot who I was and sent me out for coffee and donuts. Scored $20! :)

Vampyr
They should have zeroed out reputation at the time downvoting was allowed. Otherwise reputation is, and will be for some time to come, a function of how much a person posted during the period where only upvoting was possible. This is such a good idea I wish I could upvote it many many times. I also think that it would be nice to be able to take back one's +/- votes, especially after a post is edited. For example, PlayerX might make a post that says "Bridge is a wonderful complex game", and it could be upvoted a bunch. He could then change his post to read "I hate Fred", and then all those who upvoted would appear to be on record as upvoting the second post. In other words, it would be nice if one could take back one's +/- vote if one changes one's mind. Or if one is clumsy. I just gave a downvote in this thread when I was merely trying to look at the votes.

Agree with the sentiment, however.

Agree with the sentiment, however. I may have pointed this out in another thread a while back; I think the software should automatically enforce the "this post has been edited" tag instead of leaving it as an option to the poster. 1eyedjack
I may have pointed this out in another thread a while back; I think the software should automatically enforce the "this post has been edited" tag instead of leaving it as an option to the poster. If you think to go back an check it, the fact that a post has been (significantly) edited will be evident without that tag. But there is no prompt to go back and look and adding the tag does nothing to address that. Having the "post has been edited" tag has benefits, I agree, but would be of limited value in addressing this particular concern. An independent observer would not even be able to tell whether the upvote or dowvnvote had been added before or after the edit.
phil_20686
Personally, I think this downvoting of all Lurpoa's posts is ridiculous. It seems to me to be getting "even" for her downvotes ; how childish this is.I think its AMAZING that this post was downvoted by Lurpoa.

Bbradley62
It appears that some people (Yellows? Staff?) still (or again) have downvoting ability. rduran1216
so adorable that spam is met with downvoting by admins, not for the spammers, but for the ppl thinking it should be dealt with.
TimG
so adorable that spam is met with downvoting by admins, not for the spammers, but for the ppl thinking it should be dealt with. I'm not sure why those individuals shouldn't be allowed to post without being called spammers. Do up votes cancel out down votes? If so, strange that no one has up voted your post? gnasher
so adorable that spam is met with downvoting by admins, not for the spammers, but for the ppl thinking it should be dealt with. when 50 people post the exact same thing as their first and only posts ever, its spam But you weren't downvoted because you called it spam, or because you said that it should be dealt with. It appears that you were downvoted because you insisted that the posters in support of "bboskill" were all one person even after you had been told by that they weren't. I don't think that this merits a downvote, or that administrators should be able to downvote when nobody else can, or even that downvotes should exist, but I think we should stick to the facts. TimG
when 50 people post the exact same thing as their first and only posts ever, its spam 24 posts from users with single digit post counts (not counting "advanced" who is critical of BBOSkill). That's not 24 different user names, there are a few users who have made multiple posts. So, less than half of your stated "50 people". They did not all post the exact same thing. Some posted a single line, at least one wrote a few paragraphs. No doubt they were directed to BBO Forums by a single source, but perhaps that is because more than one person has used and liked BBOSkill and would like to see it continue. Great for them if they can generate interest from multiple individuals and get those individuals to ask for the service back. (I don't recall ever using BBOSkill.)
