Playing TD's

I'm playing in a tourney, 120 pairs. But TD is playing too and there is no other one. Last board opps were red and we have ave--. I suggested to make a clock, which can automatically adjust ave+ for the players, who played short in this round. Now we can do nothing - mark only host as enemy and never play in his tourneys...

Hi Lukasz

i often play in tourneys i created togheter with mostley borko, also td , so then restrict to ten tables max(with 2 sometimes three playing tds), even then we often have problems with megacallers, non alerts and so on.

But to host a tourney 120 tables with one playing td shoud be good enough for revoking tdspriviliges , these are things that make general population think there are no rules around bbo, many tds friends complain that behaviuor is on a downfall, these things add to that, when hosts dont behave why woud a individual have to behave is a easy way of thinking.

i feel TDS are the persons that come in contact much more with users of this site then yellows for instance so i strongly am in favour of asking/demanding some qualitycheck of tdcapebilty or at least revoke those that make fun of something i consider to be a seriuos job(payed or unpayed).

I know several good tds on this site that regulary run into probs because ppl had bad experiences with other tds and believe all tds are alike. Think of the tourney lukasz mentioned 480 ppl and no adjust possible except when u play AGAINST THE TD , happend to me ..

Playing TD's are begging for trouble, and shouldn't happen EVER. Period.

hi wayne,

i think diffrent, under special circumstances(small+ experienced tds) there is nothing wrong with a playing td.I feel a must in tourneys is the abilty to adjust when needed, what i ment as problems where ppl that dont read tourneychat and/or info and call without typing in thier problem, who is missing , seventeen calls for one adjust while we explained to tourney how its done, a zillion players signing up without knowing a word english, that causes problems.

Nothing we cant handle only it sometimes spoils the fun we coud have. 10 tables is very very diffrent then big tourneys like lukasz mentioned, when i td alone(not playing) i cant handlle 60 tables, i can but then have no time to really look at things,so lesser quality, when i hear someone doing 120 tables while playing himself he either out of this world or a bad example.

Regards

Marc

Everyone who is willing to spend his own time hosting tournaments can do it and in my opinion its ok. I agree with Helene, if you wont to play in some tournaments then play if you dont then leave. But there is another side of that, many of BBO users dont know who is good TD and who is bad, how many tables can host one TD, what kind of decisions TD makes etc etc.

Maybe is possible to make rank for BBO TDs. My idea is : create a software which will allow players to send feedback about TDs. Now, because of that that when TD makes any decision always one side is happy and one side is unhappy and unhappy side more often (in my opinion) will send the feedback, TD with lets say 50% positives feedback can be very good. But 50% positives feedback for many BBO users will not look to high, for many will look low, so I suggest to make TD's rank. To TD's rank will qualified TD who hosted more then 25 (or 50) tournaments and have more then 100 feedbacks (just positives or negatives, no long stories about what TD did or didn't). After some time we will know that bad TD has for example 25% good and 75% bad feedback, good TD opposite or so. Then we can make 3 or 4 degrees rank and place TD's rank on his profile, or on profile of tournament he created.

I understand that this way we can loose some TDs but I would not missing them. Rank in my opinion will have more positives, like competition, TDs will try to improve these tourneys. I think we will have smaller number of TDs on power trip etc.

Honestly, I don't know I'm good or bad TD, I'm not professional TD. Some people say I'm good and they like to play in my tournaments, some say I'm bad. I didn't count it so far. If I know how high I'm in TD's rank then I can work to improve my skills or I can quite its up to me.

What do you folks think about that ?

Hi

Generally a good idea imo. I like feedback from my clients.

But the devil will be in the details. :)

1. Every player has to vote after the trney

2. Maybe there is a panel of only good TDs (isn't that possible?) after some time. If u make a ranking. 1.) highest 30% 2.) next 50% 3) last 20% same good TDs will be ranked very bad.

3) If you make a ranking dividing number of good votes by number of bad votes. Where will you make the cut between the degrees?

Perhaps we could start only give the information only to the TD, who was assessed to give him the possibility to improve, if the rating is bad.

Better were people give TD personally their opinion, what was rite or wrong.

There must be a thread about this issue a few month ago. (Ben do you find the link? Is there a full-text-search here in BBO-Forum?)

Cheers

Al
