Lead problem

A, though I doubt it matters much which red ace I start with. RHO may have tried harder to X with some heart length so the heart is less likely to set up tricks or provide dummy ruffs. And this is probably a gross over-analysis.

If we were playing a 15-17 NT I would have opened 1NT. And I would have Xed 2 for takeout on this auction.

I'm surprised that everyone wants to double 2. Partner couldn't respond to 1, and he'll have another chance when 2 comes back to him. If I force him to play in two of a red-suit he's likely to have problems with ruffing his club losers. If partner doesn't bid anything voluntarily, I'm happy to defend 2 undoubled.

I agree with most part except we don't know yet if pd will have another chance (at least at 2 level). So if LHO raises to 3 and comes to us, we will have to scratch our head and wish we dbled the previous round. On the other hand, vs a pd who passed 1 initially, we need perfect cards to be missing something big, such as

x xxxxxx QTx xxx

I agree that when we DBL 2, this is the kind of hand we want our pd to have, rather than what he actually has most of the time. As u said he will bid with this if 2 comes to him anyway.
