I would pass, partner sounds like he has some kind of misfit. Something like KJxx Jx AQJxxx x is entirely possible. Maybe that's a pessimistic view of life, but I have to work on the assumption that partner has only 2 hearts, and that is a bad start. But what if partner bids 4C or 4D? That is always a problem in this type of auction. Of course, you still need a strong raise in hearts! A fix that I've been playing lately is that 4C is always coming in hearts, and bidding 3S is either stopper ask or a 4C bid. This has some problems also, but I think a strong raise of hearts is far more important to clarify immediately than a natural 4C bid. On this hand, if partner bid 4C over 3S, I would feel fine that we're off the AK of spades. If partner bid 4D it is more of a guess. Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
