Sometimes i like a post because it is amusing, not because it us a serious duscusstuin about lack of tempo. helene_t Posted June 12, 2011 Report Share Posted June 12, 2011 Yeah, if this "reputation" thing serves any purpose then it would be to tell B/I's new to this forum whose advice is worth listening to. But if rep is earned by making funny posts, uploading cute kittens and making good arguments in water cooler debates then it isn't very useful. Some forums have different kinds of tags you can attach to a post. We could have "good bridge advice" and "bad bridge advice" along with some other positive and negative feedback. Without such distinction I am not sure if the rep is meaningful enough to deserve to be counted at all. Oh well, most of those who have 100+ rep are genuine bridge experts so maybe it is not completely useless. As for the vote counts of individual posts (as opposed to counts for a particular poster), it is easy enough to see if the post was intended as serious or as funny, so it doesn't matter much.
