Vampyr
I like 3♠, hoping partner can supply a spade stopper.
Hanoi5
I like 3♠, hoping partner can supply a spade stopper. 3NT right away might also do the trick. It's gambling, I know, but it might be better than just bidding 3♦.
gordontd
I'd have bid 3NT on the first round.
nige1
I like 3♠, hoping partner can supply a spade stopper. I would have bid a delayed 3♦ but now that I've read Vampyr's post, I prefer her 3♠ call. Even if the situation has never arisen before and we've never discussed it, a logical partner may be able to deduce the likely meaning of 3♠, from systemic understandings in related contexts. . whereagles
gonzalo, after 2♠ you can try 3♦. Then LHO is probably going to bid 3♠ and you push it one more with 4♦. Then LHO loses his patience and dbls. You make it, possibly with an overtrick. LHO goes into tilt mode. Game over.
P_Marlowe
Hi, Pass, ... intending to bid diamonds next round. With kind regardsMarlowe
Vampyr
I'd have bid 3NT on the first round. Now that's an interesting idea -- no need to worry anymore about the spade lead. In fact you will probably get a diamond (if LHO's got one).
pooltuna
pass and later 3♠
benlessard
3Nt direct against weak players pass and 3S against strong players. Strong players know that leading an A is a must in "3Nt gambling" type contracts.
Fluffy
I tried pass-3♦-4♦, not a success, partner showed up with ♠KJxx♥xxx♦x♣109xxx ♠A onside and 3NT made on half the field, 4♦ went 1 off.
mtvesuvius
I have 9 tricks in my own hand. 3N wtp over 1♦. Given that I passed, I bid 3♠, still wtp IMO
Vampyr
I tried pass-3♦-4♦, not a success, Not sure what this means -- you passed 2♠ and bid 4♦ over their 3♦?
the hog
I would have bid 3NT immediately. Now I bid 3S.
JLOGIC
I quite like the pass then cuebid approach. a 3N overcall to begin with seems like a complete gamble which does not necessarily make it a bad bid, but it's not my style anymore.
