Bbradley62
Why does SouthGIB go back to spades? http://tinyurl.com/3mlxnho
mgoetze
Probably a misapplication of a rule from another situation (unpassed, i.e. forcing 1NT, and partner rebids a minor).

Do the robot people look at this forum and judge whether to reprogram? Or just the Software threads?
Bbradley62
The programmers do occassionally respond to posts in this forum.
xxhong
This is simple. A 3H in gib's system shows a better hand (about 10-12 points) and the responder's hand is too strong to pass 2H. Therefore, 2S is the only bid available. Why does SouthGIB go back to spades? http://tinyurl.com/3mlxnho

There is nothing simple or logical about preferring the wrong suit when opener as made a non-forcing and natural rebid. Opener will pass, and responder cannot show being a "little bit pregnant", anyway.
xxhong
I am only telling you what happened in gib's logic. Of course it is a rather bad system. Still, if you make the raising range large, gib may not know when to raise or only raise to game with a very strong hand. This is not only the problem of gib system. This is also the intrinsic problem of many 2/1 systems with forcing 1NT. You usually have two poisons to choose, either play a wide ranged 3 level raise or play a narrow one and make false preferences in opener's first suit. Not workable. Yes, but the 2/1 and forcing NT machinery should be off by a passed hand.
