FWIW at our table partner opened 4 and RHO made an "Alice in Wonderland" double on the hand in question.

I was foolishly tempted to redouble holding Q8643 AQT KJ7 QJ, which would have been -1

But LHO, holding 5 spades took me off the hook with a 4S bid, which I was able to double for several down and a top.

Sometimes you have to X with only 2 spades but you must always have extras, this one has no extras when you compute the flaws.

You have the Jx in H and no spots + you are ruffing with a master trump this hand really has no extras.

If Lho open 2H and I X partner bid 3S i would easily pass.

Ok ok, I wanted to see how insane it was to double 3 pretending you had a third spade. Anyway, the answer as expected seems to be "pretty insane." FWIW I thought it was clear to pass 4. At the table I did double (mostly because I wasn't up to passing in tempo) and partner bid 4. This might have worked until the 5-1 break.
