taken
Is BBO aware that they are competing against E-Bridge's 10:30 Individual tourney? It they are going to convert one of their two individual tournaments per day into another pairs tournament, it would seem more appropriate not to compete with another individual tournament on another internet bridge program. I see a number of the same players on BBO that I see on E-Bridge. On #-Bridge we've already paid for a year in advance. If the choice is play where I've already paid for the year, and pay a buck to BBO, most of us will play E-Bridge.
Rain
This reminds me of NBC's dilemma: Back in the old days, they moved Frasier to head-to-head competition with the Tim Allen show I think. (Don't quote me on this, can't remember the title of the show). This was in either season 1 or 2, the cast were frantic, didn't think they had a chance against the established favourite. But Frasier became *the* show, till the rise of those ------- friends who lifted a lot of their ideas from frasier anyway. But back to bbo vs ebridge... I favour not rescheduling the BBO ACBL tourneys. 1)Since both sites conduct so many tourneys, conflicts are bound to happen anyway... 2)What happens after the ebridgers finish their 1 year subscription to ebridge? Brand names take time to establish and seep into the awareness of consumers. If there's a conflict in scheduling ebridgers may just sit up and take note, and they may choose ebridge now (since they've already paid for it), but when its time to renew subscription they'll then remember that they had a choice elsewhere... I'm sure others can think of more reasons for or against rescheduling this tourney. Ultimately the decision lies with ACBL TDs anyway, right? :> Rain
jdulmage
That's why they run 2 events, Individual and Pairs.
Gweny
 Yes we just start offering "dual" tournaments at 11 am and 1pm. We did this so people who like to play indi's can still play and pairs can enter other one. We are considering doing same thing at 5pm since there is no late game indi. luke warm
i think rain has it exactly right... i sympathize with taken's having paid money and having to choose, but i look at it this way... the money's already gone, you've already paid... so now decide which site, which people, which tourney you'd rather play on/in/with i left some bucks elsewhere when i came to bbo, but what the hell... i wasn't gonna cut off my nose to spite my face... the interface, the people, the competition... all are better here imho
