After a club lead, suppose that you play diamond ruff, A, heart ruff, diamond ruff, heart ruff, diamond ruff. You're down to two trumps in East and none in West, the defenders still have two trumps, the diamonds aren't set up yet, and you're in the wrong hand.

I'd take the heart finesse and then crossruff.

Setting up must be better probapility after they have lead trump. Now all u have to do is hope that u can set the and still be able to draw the trumps, cause u maybe short of them when (if) the r strong.

The probability of being able to set up s is almost zero.

On the auction given I think East should have bid 4NT (blackwood) over 4C. I don't really agree with the X - for me that would show a strong NT without a stop in spades, though no doubt this pair plays it differently - and would have bid 4C natural (since X doesn't really show a suit). East bids 4D, West 4H and East 4NT, not underestimating his 6-5 hand now he knows of a maximum opener + 4-card clubs opposite.

Having said that, West might have punted 6C over 5C in the OP's auction given his 3-loser hand, but I'm not going to blame him for passing.

i like the x of 2s a far sighted bid knowing that p

would almost never pass it for penalty because they

are extremely likely to have at least ten cards in minors

(0/1 spade and less than 2 hearts). This keeps the bidding

LOW and gives W a chance to learn more about E hand.

3d is just too weak a 3d call would be closer to

x xx QJxxxx QJxx and unwillingness to play 2s x

with a minimum and dia preference. Your actual

hand is at least 2 tricks above minimum and deserves

more repsect in the bidding.

bid 4s bypassing 3s (and thus 3n) has to be because of

extreme distribution and weakish asking p to pick best minor.

Once 4s hits the table W should have zero problems bidding

6c and should not be thinking grand because E bypassed 3s

to show a weakish/distributional hand.

What would 1H <1S> 2S Q-bid show?

I play that as 5-5 other suits as negX otherwise.

That gets slammy rolling.

Really? How do you support with 11+? 13+?
