onoway
This is something relatively new to me but in the last little while I have had several GIBs simply not play when it came their turn. Today it happened twice with west GIB in less than an hour. The first time I redealt but the second time I wanted to see if the bid would make so swapped GIB out and sat in west seat and put GIB in south..everything worked fine. Is anyone else having this happen? It's very annoying.
palabreur
I had it happen in a robot reward tournament just now. The bot froze for probably 30 seconds (GIB East, 4th to play to a trick); internet connection was good otherwise. I closed browser, reopened, and everything was okay again. I noticed the scores of other people hadn't changed much, so maybe it happened to others at the same time (about 6:55am EST)
barmar
When this happens to me in a tourney, I usually contact a yellow and let them know there's a problem with the bots. If they can't fix it right away, they'll generally give you a refund.
croquetfan
thanks barmar.I have usually logged out and in to try to fix it, didn't think of calling a yellow.Happened to me recently in a bingo and was still frozen (waiting for defender to just follow suit small in cold contract, no thinking involved) when logged back in so I used a redeal. Rain
The freezing problem happens much less often if the new client is being used. The short answer is the old client may have some bugs. When the freeze problem occurs and you are already using the new client, logging out/back in, or logging out, refreshing page, logging back in, would usually fix it immediately. If you are using the old client, please please change, if only to play robot games. Most of the regulars who win a lot do use the new client. It was difficult to make the change when I first did it, but the robots appear to play faster (it's not true, tourney robots are the same in old or new client) and that makes me happier. Otherwise, try the logging out/back in trick. It usually works. Finally, before your robot T is due to start, especially if you're on the old BBO client, please stand up from your table and stop playing to prepare for the coming tourney. This helps prevent a lot of possible freeze problems. When all fails, ask accounting for refund. If the game is not proceeding up to par, we would always refund. But I should add this (having once been in charge of these refunds) - if a particular username appears to keep asking for refunds because of freezes, something is probably wrong with that person's computer or internet. So try my proposed solutions first please, they are tried and tested! :)
