rogerclee
xx Jx AJTxxx xxxAxx AKxxx 9x AKx RHO deals 1D* X 1H** P1S*** 2H P 3DP 3N AP * = precision style, 11-13 if bal, 2+D** = spades*** = exactly 3 spades LHO leads a spade, and RHO plays J, Q, then low. You win and play a heart to RHO's queen, RHO plays back the club 8. You hop and cash 4 rounds of hearts (they split 3-3), RHO pitching two clubs (not the QJT), LHO pitching spades, your play. gnasher
If RHO is 3334, I should cash the other club and then endplay him with a diamond. If he's 3325, I should give up a diamond without first cashing the club. Either QJx Qxx KQx Qxxx or QJx Qxx KQ Qxxxx is consistent with the bidding. Exactly what clubs did they each play, and what are their leads during the play?
rogerclee
Sorry this was like the 115th board against Meckwell, I was pretty out of it by then, I think RHO played the club 8 then a low spot then the 9 but I can't be sure. I was never told they had any special leads during the middle of the hand, they lead 4th best against NT in general.
gnasher
I don't think he would have switched to a club from QJ here - that would just give the contract if I had Axx AKxxx x AK10x. We haven't seen a club honour from LHO, so he doesn't have ♣J10 doubleton. If he had ♣J10x, he might have played an honour on the first club, and he might have preferred a club lead from xxxxx xxx xx J10x. That seems to make the club suit Jx-Q1098x or Q10x-J98x. We probably can't infer much from the choice of card - these people are supposed to be good, so he is probably aware of the possibility of an endplay and should just randomise. Is QJx Qxx KQx J98x an opening bid for Meckwell? I assume so. A priori, that's more likely than QJx Qxx KQ Q1098x. I'll play for clubs 3=4. menggq
for precision sys i think RHO has 11-12hcp balance hand 3343 or 3334 most likely. why not 3325? since 3325 11-12hcp wd not be opened for good players.i wd play second round big ♣ to eliminate RHO♣ and play ♦ finesse endplay RHO as well. by the way i wd like to say 1♦ openning bid(pre sys) can be 2 when 4423 11-12hcp.(1N=13-15hcp)
gszes
deleted the stuff of nightmares agree with gnasher play for clubs 3/4 since it is much more likely from an original deal standpoint
gnasher
East has pitched only two clubs, not three.
