What do you bid?

Pass. Partner has at most 3 hearts (and more likely 1 or 2), and hasn't been able to make noise, which is a huge warning sign. Also, who has the spades? If partner has five spades, then he really is broke for not overcalling, and if he has 4 or fewer, I'm happy to have them in their 2nd best fit with everything breaking badly for them.

This was really the auction.

What I did is below. (full confession, I was killing time playing the free individual express tournament so the quality of any and all of the 4 players at the table is questionable).

I decided not to pass since I'd only be collecting 50s. I decided against doubling, because I had a spade void. I decided against 1NT for the same reason, and so I bid 2 diamonds. The opener then bid 2 hearts, and partner bid 3 diamonds. I again had no idea what to bid, and decided to play 3 diamonds.

Pard rates to have some 4144 or 4153/35. Anything can work here, but if you want to bid, you have to keep spades out of the picture. Either a natural 2NT or a 3 balancing bid. Yes I know these are revolting bids, but it's either that or having them outbid you in spades.
