We do not want two different users callediamacrazyandIAmACrazy Likewise, having registered as user name as "IAmACrazy", then it is useful to be able subsequently to log in without worrying about case, and I could log in under that same account using all lower case charactors. That is good. I notice that the case of the login ID is remembered for the length of a particular session. Thus, if I initially register an ID as"IAmACrazy"and subsequently log in as"iamacrazy"then my name is displayed to all for the length of that session as "iamacrazy" (this seems to be independent of which client interface is used, ie Flash or Windows). That may have been intentional behaviour in the software design. On the other hand, it may have been intended and/or preferable, that having created the ID as "IAmACrazy", that is what should be displayed to other users even though I may log in without paying attention to case, and just using lower case characters. Insanity is the inability to know right from wrong, if you know you're insane, you know if what you're going is right or wrong therefore you are not insane :P I also think caps should stay fixed. Even if it would have been preferable at the outset, to change it now would cause disruption. A particular reason why several individuals might share an ID is so as to share a pool of BBO dollars. I have always thought that it would be a good idea to allow users to transfer BBO dollars to another user. It may be possible on request but I don't think it is automated. I can well understand that allowing transfers could damage BBO's business model, as preventing transfers could cause individuals to buy more dollars. A bit like the policy of car park managers stating that unused minutes on a car park ticket cannot be transferred. However I would not expect the demand for such a service to be such as to be noticeable to BBO's finances, but that is just speculation on my part, without any supporting evidence. A compromise might be to allow a transfer but with BBO taking a small administrative cut (perhaps this is in place already, in which case ignore). I have noticed that the search engine front end to the MyHands database is not capable of filtering based on case sensitivity. The case used when logging in is recorded in the MyHands database, so if you search on user name XXX it will return (and distinguish) both xxx and XXX player's results. It amalgamates them all for the purposes of statistical analysis such as average IMPs per board, which may not be desirable. On the other hand, those who do not religiously log in under the same case would want that effect to persist. Perhaps a "case sensitive" tick-box on the search page may be useful.
