babalu1997
Opposite a takeout double from partner, I had a pretty good hand, but the 3nt bid did not smell too good, so I passed. Good old fashioned defensive bidding, partner bids, silly, take the zero, let him be declarer. The bidding went p-p-1♥-dbl-p-3♣ Edit: -p-3nt [hv=pc=n&s=saj86hqj65dj97ck3&w=st953ha9dt8652cq5&n=sq42h32da3ca87642&e=sk7hkt874dkq4cjt9]399|300[/hv] I did not say anything, until, until, partner observed that bidding was horrible. -- You mean yours? , I agree-- no, the jump, the jump was horrible-- i jumped, standard response, I had a pretty good hand and you had a fit for me-- no, all i promised was 2 four card majors geesh, the opener just opened 1 hearts, if by any chance I have 4 hearts in my hand, things are just super, I will just play a 5-0 trump break When one makes a stupid bid, it is just best to remain silent. Hanoi5
It's terrible how some concepts are not well taught (or learned) I'm tired of hearing people say their/partner's double 'promised' 4 cards in the major(s) but this is ridiculous. Trumpace
I might regret posting this... what is the point of this thread? A lot of random people on BBO don't have a clue about bidding and don't know it. 1

kenberg
Playing the other day, lho opened 1♦, right hand opponent thought for a bit and responded 1NT. Lho raised to 2NT, rho continued to 3NT. On my lead of a heart, I was surprised to find dummy appear with fourteen highs. No problem, declarer also had fourteen highs. If we are going to play online in relatively random settings, we must relax, or go nuts, or stop playing online. Afterthought: Had the auction gone 1♦-2NT(if a GF)-3NT, or the perhaps more common 1♦-3NT, I would also have led a heart, after which declarer has nine or ten tricks depending on how she plays it. She took ten.
Fluffy
I had one very similar to kenberg's, I opened a weak 2, LHO doubled, RHO bid a natural 2NT and LHO raised with 12!. Declarer had 14.
menggq
i think N bid 3♣ was ok when S DBL 1♥,my question is weather 1♥DBL by S correct or not?with S hand DBL RHO 1♣/♦ np,but DBL 1♥ i dont agree even if someone wd say it's T/O show ♠4,that's not enough for me 4432 12HCP.what's my choice? PASS or 1♠.

If we are going to play online in relatively random settings, we must relax, or go nuts, or stop playing online. I see this all the time at my local club. Someone makes an invitational bid with a gameforce hand, and the other accepts, with a minimum. (example: someone opened 1♥ with 5-5 in the majors and about 9 points. Their partner bid 3♥ limit raise with her 16 count, and the opener accepts the invitation...) Or one person bids and rebids the same suit until the four level with a silent partner, then dummy comes down with four cards and declarer has only five. Or someone opens 2♣ and rebids 2♠ with a balanced 17-count and four spades (YES this has truly happened, and by the club teacher, too!) and responder passes with 7 points and four spades, and of course 2♠ just makes. They get used to bidding each other's hands.
