The smoke monster thing scared me. I still have faith, but that was a big wtf moment and not in a good way to me. Guess I'll have to wait to see where that goes, I haven't read the books, was just expressing a concern that this could be a bad change. Truly amazing show up to this point.The shadow creature is in the books and I don't think it could be taken out without major plot changes elsewhere to compensate. Some was added in, but I think there's a big difference reading about it, and actually seeing it on screen. Adam just replayed the episode on DVR, and I deleted it after. I don't know if I am going to be able to watch that episode again. I don't know why the killing didn't bother me, but the torture in this episode did.I too found that torture troubling. Great, that is what I was hoping for! Understand regarding the Joffrey torture scene. Mbodell Posted April 30, 2012 Report Share Posted April 30, 2012 Tyrion and Arya are the bomb in the books. But John, Dany, Davos, Samwell, and Brienne are all good also. Heck, even Jaime grows on me in the books. Varys and Littlefinger are fun too, but not sure how sympathetic per say they are. I like Margaery Tyrell much better in the TV series than what we got in the books. And I think Bronn is more fun in TV too, although he was somewhat fun in the books. But I think that as we as a society tend not to think of the top half of the male body in as sexual of terms as that of the female body those instances don't stand out to us as much. I mean, look how slow developing WINTER IS COMING is, I'm sure the dragons will be similar (as in, we will have to wait another season at least before they are badass). y66 Posted May 5, 2012 Report Share Posted May 5, 2012 Interesting theory. I don't think there's anything in the books that directly supports it (yet), but... "A Song of Ice and Fire". I think "ice" refers to House Stark, and "fire" to House Targaryen, and I've always felt that it will be Jon who dances with Daenerys later in the series (the fifth book, due out July 12th, is A Dance With Dragons). Just started watching the series. Have not read the books. There was a scene sequence in episode one that seemed to foreshadow a future for these two. My favorite part of episode one was when Bran, after witnessing the execution of the ranger, questions his father about the ranger's report of having seen the White Walkers and seems puzzled that his father did not consider the possibility that this could be true. I thought Cat's parting comment to Jon Snow was pretty honest and understandable under the circumstances. It will surprise me a lot if her character does not eventually feel ashamed for feeling that way and for making that comment. The Tyrion Lannister character is my favorite so far. Arya is up there. babalu1997 Posted May 6, 2012 Report Share Posted May 6, 2012 in a way, i like that the tv story was condensed and some pointless stories removed, like the trek between the death of yoren and the capture of arya and gendry. also glad adam marbrand was melded with bronn, why did he exist in the first place. i read the first three books fats, the fourth took forever, the pace just became too slow.
