cccheung
At Team Game, we bid like this:1S 2H2S 3H3S 4H5H What is 5H? We play 2/1 GF. In our method: 1S 2H; 3S is solid 6+ suit with 16+, set trump. 1S 2H; 2S is catch all1S 2H; 2N is balanced 14-16 HCP, likely 5-2-3-
JLOGIC
Asking heart quality. Opener presumably has the nuts on the outside. This is a good example of a spot keycard would not help that much in since the jack and ten are so important.
Finch
Yes, asking for good trumps. Opener won't have more than a singleton heart at most.
P_Marlowe
For us this would be a general slam try. With kind regardsMarlowe
OleBerg
I'm with the heart-quality crowd all the way. But I'd like to ask another question about the sequence: What is 5♣ and 5♦? Slam-try in hearts seems obvious, but what else? Is it a cuebid or strength-showing? And how do we unearth the number of aces?
han
I think that "general try" and "trump quality ask" are the same when you realize that opener has short hearts.
Free
I agree with han on this one.
cccheung
I bid 5H with AKJxxxx Ax xx xx, Seems that I cannot bid 5H to slam try as most player play it trump strength asking. What shall I bid? Partner had x KQJT9x AQJx xx, he raised to 6H and going one down quickly.
CSGibson
I bid 5H with AKJxxxx Ax xx xx, Seems that I cannot bid 5H to slam try as most player play it trump strength asking. What shall I bid? Partner had x KQJT9x AQJx xx, he raised to 6H and going one down quickly. I would bid 4♥ over 3♥. Even though we have a source of tricks, we don't have good enough controls to entertain more, especially as partner rates to have a singleton spade on this auction, and we don't have an entry to our long suit outside of trump, which seriously draws into question whether your side suit is even viable as a source of tricks.
