Playing a "all play same bridge indy(sayc)" you first deal is whit a beginner partner and 1 exp/1 adv opps,(self assinged)

u pick up this hand: [hv=d=s&v=e&s=s109xh10987xdakqxcx]133|100|Scoring: IMP[/hv]

opps are voulnrable and you are not so u start whit a weak 2 bid, now bidding continu: 2-2nt-x-3-3-pass-3-4-x-xx-pass-pass-???

what now??? pls vote and explane:))

thx

ps. please Dont look at the bidding, its horrible but thats not the cestion.

Yes totally agree, 2 is a bad bid, but this is a indy and whit a beginner p i desided to open this hand. would never do it in a normal pair turn.

Why do you think a beginner will be more likely cope opposite an unusual bid of yours than an expert would, or more likely to cope opposite an unusual bid of yours than opposite a standard bid?

There are certain "bad" bids which one can make with a beginner partner. But this isn't one of them.

I also don't understand the double of 4. But now you have got to pass and hope they go down. There doesn't look to be a decent contract your way, but there is some hope that you can take 4 tricks in defence.

The auction is so ridiculous that it hardly warrants discussion. It took me three reads and a pair of double-takes to realise it was your hand that doubled 4C.

They send it back and now you want to chicken out?

Come on now. Tell us the real story, you never once looked at your cards, did you?

sorry folks...couldn't help myself. I had to track down the hand.

Yes, helium's partner had the mother of all penalty doubles of 4C and 4Hx had four toppies.

Is there a lesson is this hand? Well, there's probably enough to fill a large tome.

You know, I once played an indy and deliberately changed my rating to Novice to see how my partners and oppos would treat me.

Much like helium, they treated a novice like a fool. It was interesting experiment that I wont hurry to repeat.

maybe this is one reason why people are refusing to put their rank as beginner when they really are: the lack of respect from (some) partners.

the story is so horrible that i don't understand how someone can ask about it instead of staying ashamed in a corner.

If you ask me:

1) 2 is crazy: you only have a 5 card suit, and it sucks. Partner will expecting a 6 card for sure, and usually some honour card (something that counts to HCP for example, not the 10). It's not that partner expects you to have a try-to-be Muiderberg or so. What's also awful is that you have a 3 card next to that suit. This is almost the perfect ANTI-weak-two hand...

If you really can't stand the pressure of bidding, open this hand 1 and support your partner's 1 bid. You even have a nice rebid if partner bids 1NT or 2!

2) 3 is also crazy: you bid out of free will, and what do you want partner to expect now? Still not a hand like this imo.

3) Dbl with probably around only 2 tricks - CRAZY!

HEHE

well i got the reactions i wonted from this pull( was gonna post all hands now but someone beat me too it:(

As you all know i was the "jerk" who tryed to create a good result whit this hand. and i got the score of a lifetime. opps were in 4XX whit atleast 4 down and i had so little trust in my p that i bid 4:)( blæhhh one down and -3 imp instead of +25 imp or someting.

SO is there some lessions to learn from this? Well i sertenly learned one LOL

Ill never undrestimate my parners again, i whill bid my hand as normal and easy as possible whit a beginner ofcourse. but never try to take charge. bridge is a partnership game:)) cant play whit 3 opponments.

I think one of the reasons i did it was a habbit i have earned playing robber games for money. when u face the weakest player at the table you want to play as many of the hands as possible, couse he is bound to missplay and missbid the easyest hands. like the "dreaded godzilla" as zia calls him, you want to save as moth money as possible playing whit him.

and we all know how terrible and mindblowing it can be to be the defenceless dummy at the table, watching ur novise p go 4 down in a game where the feald have bid and made slam:))))

What's wrong with the 2 opening? Playing with a beginner against experts, you want to randomize the score. But what's the purpose of bidding 3? You don't want p to bid 3NT with stoppers in the black suits. And you will be on lead urself against 4.

If you're going to 'take a shot' with a beginner, it seems that 1D is a gamble that rates to have a higher rate of success. You get a diamond lead when it's the opponents' hand (which is a heck of a lot better than a heart lead). If it's your hand, and your partner is a real beginner, you probably weren't going to do too well on the board anyway.

well i personally don't think 2h is that bad a bid, but if you make this bid you can't speak again unless forced... 3d as a free bid seems wrong

after the pass of xx, i'd have to pass and get ready to do my mea culpa... i don't think i'd bid again after having already violated one of my weak 2 rules
