pooltuna
my gut reaction is that 3NT will play better. Partner will need a runnable 6 card ♥ suit probably requiring us to duck our initial ♥ lead but our ♠ suit will usually be sufficiently strong to prevent the opps from setting it up and taking sufficient tricks in it to set our contract. bluecalm
It's a pity we don't have a 9♠ but as they didn't raise maybe spades are 6-2 even if partner has a stiff.3NT for me but I see how 4♥ could work on some layouts.
phil_20686
What do people think 3S would show on this sequence? Presumeably I must have two hearts so to be even thinking abotu 3N my spades must be quite good, and no danger of wrongsiding here. DOes that mean that 3S should fetch 3N with stiff Q or Tx or something like that? Suspect i would actually bid 3S with less good spades than this. Spades like QT9 or something. Put me in the 3N camp. though I think its close.
chasetb
I think 3♠ would confirm Hearts as trump, and be similar to Serious 3NT. Since we have KJxx of Spades, 3NT easily looks best - if partner has 12+ HCP and wants to bid on we'll find the slam. Don't forget Hamman's Rule - if 3NT is possibly to play, bid it!
