IMPs (Swiss Teams, 8 board matches, last match, table 1).

If it mattters: playing Acol, weak NT, 4 card majors, "majors first". Whatever, partner has shown a minimum opener with 6 hearts, and 10HCP would be enough to open 1H with a 6 card suit.

What I did was wrong: I expect to be told it was obviously wrong. :(

Do the right thing and you win enough IMPs to get the silverware.

Seems to me like a straight choice between Pass & 3, and I choose Pass. I can't imagine anyone choosing the other options.

My experience from people-based testing made me add some spurious options. :)

As Gordon almost said, seems to me like a straight choice between 3 and 4, and I choose 4. I can't imagine anyone choosing the other options.

3 seems enough to me. None of my partners ever seems to pass an invitational 3M when Vul at teams, so this way we still get to 4 but I have an alibi when it goes off.... :)

If I originally responded 1S with the intention of jumping to 3H on the next round --apparently so, since otherwise a simple raise of hearts the first time would be fine ---then I must bid 4H now that pard has six of them and not a wk 2 opener.

you're playing acol. you didn't raise to 2H immediately because you prefer playing 9 card spade fits to 7 card heart fits.

Does this form of "Acol" include weak twos?

If so, this seems to be partly a matter of what a maximum weak two looks like, and a minimum 1-level opener. If we play Acol 2s, partner's minimum is probably slightly lower.

I think 4H is an overbid assuming that partner will accept on any excuse. 3H seems down the middle. I was going to say pass is possible, but it's quite easy to write down boring hands where game is cold, so I don't think I'll pass.

In a style where "10HCP would be enough to open 1H with a 6 card suit", I think this is just a normal 3.

The only reason I might bid game is that partner may not be able to evaluate his spade holding correctly - he will think that Qx is good and a singleton is bad, whereas the opposite is true.
