gurgistan
Hi all. I have been thinking. In the sequence 1♣ 1N 2♦, with 2♦ as a Jacoby transfer should responder's rebid depend entirely on his strength in ♥s. Eg 2♥ if minimum with 8 hcp and no fit3♥ if minimum with 3/4 card support4 ♥ if 9-10 and with 3/4 card support. I came up with this schema rather quickly but I am sure if it is any good it is being used and if it is not then I need to know what is. Any thoughts on either point. All relevant responses much appreciated.
Free
I don't get the point. When will opener want to transfer a suit he can hardly have, and when will responder ever have 4 card support in a suit he already skipped?
P_Marlowe
Hi, #1 I guess 1C is artifical, in a strong 1C system context#2 1NT showes 8-10 and a bal. hand This takes the forum into account, but it may behelpful towrite it in the post. I have no experiece with strong 1C systems, but given the conditions, it may make sense, to play the same system aftera 1NT reponse as after a 1NT opening. The only difference is, that the systems after a 1NT openingbid usually let responder describe his hand, and than the 1NToening bidder becomes captain. This translates to the fact, that the strong hand describes his hand, and that the weaker hand becomes captain, usually strong1C system make the 1C opener captain. So if you dont care a lot about right sidening the contract andtelling the opening leader too much, ... the response scheme aftera 1NT opening will work in the given situation. With kind regardsMarlowe
Bbradley62
Why are you transferring to make the weaker hand the declarer?
straube
Why are you transferring to make the weaker hand the declarer? Yeah. This is very bad. Also, the 1N response should not be used for a hand that is likely to end up in no trump. We use it (in a relay system) to show both majors. A lot of people play that a 1N response shows clubs (which is ok when opener gets to play club contracts but again not so good for NT contracts). Here's Meckwell's structure (from what I recall). It's just one example of how to organize so that opener frequently gets to play the contract. 1D-0-71H-8+ with 5 spades OR 11-13 balanced1S-8+ with 5 hearts1N-8+ with 5 clubs2C-8+ with 5 diamonds2D-8-10 balanced2H-14+ balancedetc for 4441s etc Relay responses are probably more efficient if you want to go there. An example of this (not the best one) is... 1D-0-71H-4+ spades, unbalanced1S-balanced or minors1N-4+ hearts, unbalanced2C-hearts and diamonds2D-clubs2H-3-suited with both minorsetc-diamonds
