1 is 4+ cards in a weak no trump context, but will be 5+ unless 15+ points and 3433/44(32)

2 is nat 5+, 10+ points

IMPS, take it from here. We had a bidding misunderstanding and finished up in 6, which suddenly improved when the A hit the deck, and that caused me to then play AJ picking up the 10x on my left, +1010 and a lucky 3 IMPs against 920.

The rest of the auction starts with North. South would pass 3. Now, does North bid 3 within the 4cM context? Is it forcing?

4 seems a bit awkward, too. This hand is all on North to do or die.

Looks like 6C, though not cold, was hard to reach also.

Hi,

#1 South passes.

#2 North bids 4C - which is game forcing, and should show 54.

#3 South can bid 4S as a cue, agreeing clubs.

4S should show a top honor, and South does not mind, if North passes,

he already denied 3 card support, so Kx in spades should be good enough,

if North thinks, 4S was a suggestion to play.

So even, if 4S is not understood as a cue, agreeing clubs, it will

not lead to desaster.

#4 If North understands 4S as a cue, he ownt stop below 6C, otherwise

he will play 4S.

With kind regards

Marlowe

2 seems obvious, even in a 5-card-major context. 3 would be "taking a position", at the very least.

Getting to 6 is not nescesarily easy. If 3 is forcing by North, I'd would be my choice, and Clubs would virtually be gone. (If you play 4 by south after 3 as showing club-strength (as opposed to cuebid), an inspired 6 might save the day.

If I am (on this occasion) lucky enough that it is not forcing, 4 sems obvious, and 6 is within reach.

after 3d and no more bidding by opps

pass lets start by keeping bidding low and hopefully clueing p into idea we are minimum

dbl extra values

3h confirming 5 hearts minimum and no desire to bid 3n (max 1 stop)

4d confirming heart fit and cue bid

4h really really REALLY minimum

5n pick a slam (partnership rates to have at least 24 hcp outside diamonds (p not bid 3n) if this was gsf we would bid it over 3h

6c offers an alternative

pass good enough for me.

We should have found this easily.

By our methods, this is nowhere close to a minimum opening bid either.

I doubled with the south hand, showing a not completely broke opening bid and 4+ clubs, or a really big hand.

Partner bid 4 and we were on different wavelengths, I treated this as if I'd bid 3 which effectively I'd done, ie as exclusion for clubs. Partner wasn't on the same planet, and we ended up in 6.
