What to do?

HUGE potential with this hand (7 might be easy lay down).

I would start with 4n (regular blackwood with no agreed trump suit)

if p shows 1 ace sign off in 6h. If p shows 2 aces bid 5n looking for

kings gamble on 7n ONLY if p shows 3 kings (hoping they do not have ak dia)

else sign off in 6h.

This has a special advantage. Once you bid 5n if p has an independent

side suit (spades) they can infer we have all the aces and just bid 7

on their own immediately.

I think an immediate 4NT should be natural, but that might be a minority opinion.

4-4;5 is just a correction of contract, with four hearts and four or more clubs.

4-4;5 is a slam try with hearts. I think this route should show a diamond control, and a direct 5 should deny one.

A direct 5NT would clearly show clubs and an unspecified major. 4 followed by 6 would show clubs and hearts, but probably ought to be 4-6 or 5-6.

I would think that 4N would be Blackwood. After a preempt and double, it isn't likely that the partnership belongs in 6N (which 4N natural invites) and many of those holdings where it might be right to invite 6N can convert the double to penalty. OTOH, it is difficult to both set trump and then RKC, so we at least need to be able to ask for aces when we think we know the right strain.

I would bid 4 followed by 6 after the expected 4 response.

Not ideal, but anything else (after 4) risks a misunderstanding and I am not prepared to stop below slam.

Unlikely that partner will not have tolerance for after the double.

4D.

The only forcing bid you have at the moment.

Most would play 4D as two place to play, but even if you are not sure,

4D is at least a bid, that asks partner to tell you more about his

hand.

I am not sure, I will be better placed after partner responds, but at

least I have another chance.

If I dont hear anything useful, I will eventually bid 6H, but depending

on mood and how ugly partner did treat me in the previous boards, I may

hit back and bid 5D over a 4S response.

With kind regards

Marlowe

well deep now you know why partnership agreement is so hugely important.

the odds of any other the respondents being on the same page for this hand

borders on nil. I remain convinced 4n ace asking is vastly more important

than any of the offered alternatives but most would disagree good luck.
