morganc
Hand played on BBO. All players have expert status in their profile and sayc is agreed between NS. Simple question, is 3♣ forcing and if so what do you bid? [hv=pc=n&s=sq2hj98da98742ca4&d=e&v=0&b=14&a=p1d1hdp2dp2hdpp3cp]133|200[/hv] Btw you are wellcome to comment on the opening bid, would you pass or open 1♦ with unknown partner (and unknown opponents)? TWO4BRIDGE
I think partner has good hand with 4/6 in the blacks ( Sp/Cl )... trying to force to game.I also think he is 1/2 in the reds ( Hts/Diam) .Since 3NT seems to be out of the question, the question remaining is whether you can make 11 tricks in Cl. You have nice honors in his suits. You could bid 4C, but I think that could be passed in this auction. I'd try 5C.

Martin 1♦ is OK. Not a super-opening, but S cannot be blamed for opening. 3♣ is surely forcing. No idea what N could have. At this stage I must assume that he has ♦ support, and he knows that I assume so (!).S has really nothing to tell here, so: 3♦
Finch
2H set up a game force, so 3C is forcing. I have nothing new to say, because I think I have already shown 6 diamonds, so I'll bid 3H.
morganc
Ok, I chose to rebid 3♦ and partner bid 5♦. From the diagram you can see it had little play with opponents taking the first three tricks in hearts and another two in diamonds. [hv=pc=n&s=sq2hj98da98742ca4&n=sak86h753dqckqj62&d=n&v=0&b=1&a=p1d1hdp2dp2hdpp3cp3dp5dppp]266|200[/hv] Actually I don't regret my 1♦ opening however I think it is hard not to land in a silly contract if you do so. East is dealer.
aguahombre
It seems, unless you had a lucky accident, you were doomed to be in an unmakable game from the start --even with a reasonable auction. As for North (or West, depending on which diagram is used) ---I don't see the point in making a negative double when after the 1♥ overcall he can bid 2c (one-round force) then show the lengths of the two suits AND game going strength with 2S next round. By not doing so, North created confusion on your part as to what his hand could possibly be. Like I said, you weren't making game anyway...but might have been down only one in 5C or 3NT. P_Marlowe
3C is forcing. I bid 3H - it is not 100% clear, but I would say 3H asksfor a half stopper. With kind regardsMarlowe
paulg
Doesn't responder's hand belong to another thread? [Not that bidding 2♣ would help on this hand]
gwnn
easy opening bid. 5♣ 4♠ is debateable but I prefer 2♣ usually.
Fluffy
I'd show half a stopper with 3♥, IMO partner has made the hand game forcing already.
Free
Bidding so far is fine. 3♣ is absolutely forcing. I'd bid 3♥. I already told partner I haven't got anything to add so I'll add nothing again to the conversation, except the half stopper in ♥.
han
3D is gross on ace-empty-sixth.
gordontd
I think partner has good hand with 4/6 in the blacks ( Sp/Cl )I wonder why he wouldn't/didn't respond 2♣ with such a hand, following up with spades afterwards.
the hog
I'd show half a stopper with 3♥, IMO partner has made the hand game forcing already. Yes, 3H looks an obvious bid now.
