Trust your partner. His pass says you don't have game. Believe him and leave the last guess to RHO.

Um... second hand low, third hand high?

It would help a lot if I knew what my hand was and in which position I was sitting.

Don't you think we are being asked the meaning of this very unusual 3 bid?

Assuming double of 2 is diamonds and 2 is Michaels, then I guess he just has a good one suiter - too good for an immediate 2 or 3.

This is what I thought. In todays wrap up I explained how this is the 'only' way to bid KJTxxxx AKQ xx x.

I just wanted to gauge how full of sh!t I really was.

So you're saying that it shows a hand that wanted to make a takeout double and then bid spades, but couldn't, because 2 would have been Michaels? There is some logic in that - I can't see any other way to bid a strong one-suiter. I don't think I'd risk it without discussion though.

What about 2nt first ? Partner might take it for minors, but when you bid 3 later, wouldn't you be showing this hand ?

why don't you take our double 2 and then bid 3?

If we accept the premise that good hands with spades have to pass first, then by analogy with other sequences:

- Pass then 3 shows a strong one-suiter

- Pass then double then 3 shows a strong flexible hand

My first guess, is that prd woke up and made delayed pre-empt, its the simplest and most probaple explenation at least with my regular prd B-) . If i have to assume that prd is doing something clever ( oh god), i would put my money for a major two suiter. He saw the

xfer and decide to wait a round to see if anything exiting would happen... nope so 3.

As long as partner doesn't raise diamonds, possibly to the five level.

Maybe Han meant to start by doubling 2, after having passed over 2.

Anyway, I would take it as a strong one-suited hand, less flexible than what I could show by doubling 2 and then bidding 3. Of course Adam K's system is fine, too, although I am not quite sure if he meant it seriously :)
