When is a Beginner Ready to Play Online?

I am still a beginner- I have just playing bridge a couple of weeks. I have been playing with the three robots and doing pretty well. I am a little slow to bid, but I feel I am doing it correctly-at a beginners level anyway. At what point might I be ready to play other beginners online? Any type of milestones or suggestions are welcome!

Play now. You have a ways to go but so what.

Agree. Play now. And don't take anything tragical. A bad hand is not the end of the world, even if some of your partners might seem to think so :)

Maybe start in the Relaxed Bridge Club, instead of Main Bridge Club - but it does not really matter where you play. It would help to state your level in profile.

Welcome to Bridge and the BBO Forums Stacy. Don't be afraid, go ahead and look for any game. You can announce to table you're still new when you join a new table, and players are bound to be more understanding of that. Ask any questions you may have please. :)

Welcome to BBO. I think you're ready to play as soon as you feel comfortable. Definitely let people know you're new, they're usually quite understanding. This is a great game, and though sometimes people get frustrated...it's still just a game.

I'd also like to point out to one of my favorite parts of BBO: the vugraphs. You get to watch great players and have commentary from other great players (and you can ask them questions too!) It's been a great resource for me to look at them play a hand and think, "wow, that's a great way to play a hand...maybe I'll remember it when I play next time." I never do, but hopefully it'll sink in eventually.

Yes, just start playing now, you are probably already better than most "experts" :)

However, if you play with random partners and opponents you will need thick skin as not everyone show their best social skills when they are on the internet. So you will need to grow a network of "friends".
