luke warm
we recently had a thread on interference over 1nt... this one came up today, how do you bid it?[hv=d=n&v=n&n=st98haq3dakj73ck6&w=s63hjt862d9654cj7&e=sakqj4hk94d8caq85&s=s752h75dqt2ct9432]399|300|Scoring: IMP[/hv] West North East South - 1NT 2♠ Pass Pass 3♦ Pass Pass Pass my partner plays capp (which i dislike a tad :P)... so, how do you bid the east hand using your favorite methods? paulg
I think 2♠ has worked out really well considering North's ill-advised rebid but East forgot to double. When you are this strong, without a penalty double, it is unlikely that you can find game, so competing for the partscore is ok. Passing is also an option - it's unlikely that 1NT will make. p
whereagles
How would I bid this? 1D X pass 1H1NT X pass 2Hpass 4H (all pass) If North opens 1NT, I'd bid it like this 1NT X 2C pass2D X pass 2Hpass 2S (all pass) Well, whaddayaknow... I'd miss the heart game lol.
skorchev
I play Woolsey over strong 1NT opening: Dbl - 5+ minor, 4+ major2♣ - both major 4+-4+2♦ - major unicolor2♥ - ♥+minor 5+-4+2♠ - ♠+minor 5+-4+2NT - both minors 5+-5+ I have no penalty option in this case, so I may bid 2♠ as your partner did or to PASS. Right now I don't know what I would do. Stefan
Fluffy
On my style: (1NT)-X*-(2♣)-p(p)-X**-p-2♥***(p)-3♠-(p)-p(p) X*= minor/major 2 suiter, non forcing.X**= penalty2♥***= I don´t wanna play doubled, I wanna play in your major. Free
I would have the same auction as you Jimmy, but I'd probably Dbl 3♦... I won't overcall 2♣ showing ♣ and a Major when my Major is of this quality. And I also don't have a penalty Dbl available in this position. luke warm
in the other thread, it seemed that most liked meckwell, and i wonder how that would work here.... in my methods the bid is 2H showing spades and clubs OR clubs only... as west i'd bid 2S over the 2H bid for this hand, it looks like woolsey (skorchev's preference) works well, but mine also does... my partner *almost* doubled 1nt, and playing capp that might work out here, tho the lead could give declarer his 7th trick.. so i don't like doubling 1nt for penalties in general fwiw, one reason i like the method i play is the 2H bid.. it takes a lot of room away from the ops and even makes playing leb very difficult
jtfanclub
I double, single suited. If partner replies 2C, I say 2S. Hopefully, he'll be strong enough to leave it in. The spade suit is self-supporting across two small. I'll take my chances with it. EDIT- There's rather strong possibility that W is so weak that he'll be afraid to play in a black suit, and bid 2H rather than 2C, which should show a 6 card suit but what can you do?
