rasmuskold
Hello there Butler tournament, red vs white, you hold the following hand: ♠ AJ743♥ K♦ DT987♣ T9 It goes pass from RHO, you pass as well, LHO opens 1♥ (5 c.maj), partner overcalls 2♣ (limited to 16hp), RHO bids 3♥ (invitational)... Now what? thx
pooltuna
I would opt for discretion and pass.
kayin801
I admit it's tempting but I feel like X will get us into too much trouble and we won't find the right strain a lot of the time, not to mention it puts a lot of pressure on partner, and 3♠ can't be right, so all that's left is pass. nigel_k
Double. On a bad day we may be a little high but many good things can happen. We could easily be making 4♠, or 4 of a minor when they are making 3♥. Though RHO's raise is invitational he needn't have many highcards and LHO opened in third seat NV so there is room for partner to have a pretty good hand. ahydra
I think I'll have to pass, even with the possibility we hold the majority of the HCPs. If the hand is a misfit and RHO's bid is actually showing some values rather than just a pre-emptive raise (as described "invitational") then 4 of something X'd is going to get ugly. ahydra
