Fluffy
I can't really understand what is declarer doing. perhaps he has Ax KQ109xx Kxx Ax, then a 4th diamond is fatal, so lets play a club.
gnasher
perhaps he has Ax KQ109xx Kxx Ax, then a 4th diamond is fatal, so lets play a club. That gives partner a 1♠ overcall. Maybe Axx KQ109x Kxx Ax, if that's not a 1NT opener? Anyway, if a fourth diamond were right we wouldn't be in this position - declarer would just ruff any spade loser and draw trumps. mtvesuvius
I return the ♦, I don't see how it can hurt much, and partner is allowed to have Q8x♥
Mbodell
A diamond was also chosen at the table like 80% of the poll right now. It was not a success. ATB is it partners fault for not cashing a club before returning diamonds? Is it just bad luck that opponents bidding gave us a bad picture of the hand? Here's the full hand: [hv=pc=n&s=sak4hkq9763dk63cq&w=sjt97ht85da85ca85&n=sq5ha42d742cjt742&e=s8632hjdqjt9ck963&d=e&v=0&b=14&a=p1hp2hd3c3spp4hppp]399|300[/hv]

JLOGIC
Why would partner cash the A of clubs? Does he know we have QJT9 of diamonds somehow? Cashing the CA is pointless except to stop us from giving a ruff sluff for no reason.
Trumpace
What did partner do wrong? Maybe the 3S bid?
manudude03
I tend not to participate in defence topics since I'm hopeless :). A couple of things though: 1. Why didn't we play the ♦Q the first time we played the suit? That way, it should be easier for partner to get it right.2. Declarer misplayed it too. I would have played the last diamond too hoping for a trump promotion.
dellache
What did partner do wrong? He obviously should have found the only killing lead : small ♣.And finally declarer added insult to injury by grosvenoring at trick 2. Geee... B-)
