Against silent opps, P bids 1. Playing 2/1 gf, 1nt seems obligatory. P now bids 2. Where do we go from here and why?

pass

1s then 2s can be pretty lite.

This is a very typical example of a tough hand for lite openers. You have 11 hcp....5h and no spade support. You must choose to live with this kind of problem or not.

I need a heck of alot more to gf with this. :)

2nt if soundish.

I'd bid 2H over 1S. Sure it might be a slight overbid but I want to try and get the nature of my 5-5 across. Any time partner has a weak NT with 3 hearts I definitely want to be in game so I don't want to create any problems starting with 1NT.

2 sounds rather minimum.

Nevertheless, I will almost always rebid 2NT (might depend, on state of match and colors): not really to play there, bit to give parter the option between 3 or 4 . I don't really expect him to bid a 3 card , but you never know......

I think Hugh Kelsey would suggest you pass.

Opposite my regular pard I would!

well, wouldn't blaim, my partner if he passes. Yes, it is tough...

It is important to have the same understanding as partner, and do always the same thing...

Why Hugh Kelsey ?
