aguahombre Posted February 10, 2011 Report Share Posted February 10, 2011 I guess this hand is an argument for bidding ♠-♥-♠ with 6-4 and a 13 or 14 pt opener(one which would accept game invites). Yes I realize it is a GF but at least you have 2 five card suits for a source of tricks and 2 aces. All of that makes 4♥, 3NT, or 4♠ a highly probable viable game. Where do we go from here and why? :unsure: pass 1s then 2s can be pretty lite. This is a very typical example of a tough hand for lite openers. You have 11 hcp....5h and no spade support. andy_h Posted February 11, 2011 Report Share Posted February 11, 2011 I'd bid 2H over 1S. Sure it might be a slight overbid but I want to try and get the nature of my 5-5 across. Any time partner has a weak NT with 3 hearts I definitely want to be in game so I don't want to create any problems starting with 1NT. Where do we go from here and why? :unsure: 2♠ sounds rather minimum.Nevertheless, I will almost always rebid 2NT (might depend, on state of match and colors): not really to play there, bit to give parter the option between 3 or 4 ♠.
