Azzkikr
I am just enquiring of others, this topic has probably already been broached by others, if you can direct me to where that would be great, if there isnt then here are my questions. 1) if you runa tournament of pay to play, who gets the money from that?2) if some is given over to BBO and some to the director, how do you set up an account to recieve it, and can we give the money take or part there of back to the players?3) if all monies go to the BBO what is the incentive of the players? (beside supporting this great organisation of course)4) Is there any benefit to directors to run these over others?5) Does the BBO staff and owners prefer us to run pay to play? im sure there are other points i havnt thought of yet and will add them if there is no other place to look for answers. thanks for your time

uday
The best place for this sort of query is uday@The following answers are approximations. 1) if you runa tournament of pay to play, who gets the money from that?If XXX organizes a series of pay tourneys, XXX and BBO divide the card fee, most of it going to XXX. BBO will send XXX the $$$ each month. It is up to XXX to pay the director. 2) if some is given over to BBO and some to the director, how do you set up an account to recieve it, and can we give the money take or part there of back to the players? In some parts of the world, this is a problem. Ideally, something simple like paypal, or the ability to take a US check. We will occasionally xfer via bank/WesternUnion but you'll pay the xfer fees. We dont care about the give-back-to-the-players as long as it is legal. We can handle the give-back for you but it will likely have to be in BBO$ ( or enough real $$ to make it worth our while to use paypal, or a check, or whatever) 3) if all monies go to the BBO what is the incentive of the players? (beside supporting this great organisation of course) See 1; the majority of the money goes to the tourney organizer 4) Is there any benefit to directors to run these over others?See 1. Successful pay tourneys can earn decent money while making the players happy. We can discuss how to create a successful pay T. Some people, like the BBOITA crew, BBOLand, Mirjam, have gained experience that they might (or might not) be willing to share. 5) Does the BBO staff and owners prefer us to run pay to play?I dont think we have a strong preference. Pay Ts generate revenue, and I won't turn any revenue down, but we do not intend to put any pressure on anyone to run pay Ts. A few clever people will undoubtedly step in and take advantage of the existing gaps and provide a service (payT) in exchange for pay and do well. what if I charge for membership of a private club?? or what if players charges to pay with them? We do not support paid membership clubs yet. Is there any interest? We'll do it anyway at some point. The 'pay tourney pro' thing is not yet enabled ( i need to add some code, fred needs to define some rules-of-the-road). we'll publish them as we come up with them, probably in a week or so. Azzkikr
Thanks for those answers, again a couple of things popped into my delecate little brain. a) What is the incentive of pay to play for players? :) Is there any masterpoint scheme or anything of that nature that as a director i need to become a part of to access, or is it generated by BBO? c) If there are some schemes available is it in the interests of me as a director, you as an organisation or the player base to take one of the options that will benefit BBO and players more. Most of the info im interested in is to generate interest by the players, and to help BBO remain a free haven for players to come and enjoy themselves. So anything that has been published on the issue or has been discussed and is posted anywhere would be great. If there are any rules or regulations that the BBO body would like directors to adhere to or at least consider when making decisions as to the validity of their tournaments i would be very interested in those also. Kindest Regards.
uday
a) What is the incentive of pay to play for players? If you don't find one, very few people will pay. You will be competing against many free Ts. Is there any masterpoint scheme or anything of that nature that as a director i need to become a part of to access, or is it generated by BBO? We'll compute points for you using the standard acbl-like scheme that we use for acbl (of course) and BBOLand. So your Ts will automatically add to the new symbols ( http://www.bridgebase.com/3.8.4/ministars.txt )
