5 level decision

Really?

To me it is % 100 forcing, but i play more auctions as forcing pass compared to others. My criterias for forc pass auctions are, when it is clear that we own the hand (doesnt exists here) or when we create a forc pass auction (doesnt exists here in theory) or when it is OBVIOUS that they are saving.(i think thats what it is here) You may get hit by dog walkers now and then but they hit themselves more often. I will bid 5 with this if pass is forcing.

If this is a forcing pass situation, partner's pass should imply shortness in clubs, since he is more likely to double with 2 or more clubs.

In that case, I bid 5.

We have the good values but we are minimum so its close, 5 is probably 300 when we make game and 100 when we don't, so it will give or take more or less the same. I can imagine partner having something like AKJxxxx Kxx Ax x, 5 spades will be a good bet there, I think I go for one more, if anything it might bring a higher sacrifice from opps.

IMP Pairs, good partner , average opps.

What now?

Forcing Pass. Yes, I could agree to play that in this situation (but it is not clearcut !). But I think that, if you agreed to play FP, you also should have agreed what a double by opener means ?

Without that information, difficult to decide....4 might be bid on a marginal hand, with 6 card ((14-15H).

For those who asked why Pass is forcing :

For us , it becomes a FP situation , if an opponent who previously bid (supported) in a non-forcing way (3 here)

later bids game , over our game bid (without getting any encouragement from his partner).

If South (the 2 overcaller) would have bid 5 then PASS would not have been forcing for us.

5 = 10, _X = 9, 5 = 7. A forcing pass should show good spades and club shortage. You hope that your earlier sputnik double may inhibit a heart lead.

ASSUMING you are correct concerning the forcing pass:)

you have already limited your hand when you passed 4s now you have a second chance to show a

hand filled with controls and no club waste.

bid 5d

this hurts nothing and helps differentiate between hands like yours and say

xx

QJxx

KQxx

xxx

with this collection I would be happy to bid 5s

5d = 10 5s = 8 x = 5 pass = you hate current partner and are giving them a reason to dump you.

Same here, surprises me most people focus on our NOT creating a forcing pass and ignore opponents who are obviously saving over a vulnerable bid game. I understand vulnerable bid game alone does not creates forcing pass, but we cant pretend like we dont know if they are saving or not. They are obviously SAVING in this auction.

Pd has a hand that would open 4 if he didnt have an extra Ace or KQ somewhere. At least thats what it means to me.

AQJxxxx x AQx xx is a possibility but then he would not forcing pass 5

AKJxxxx xx Axx x if he has this we better dbl 5

AKJTxxx Kx Qxx x we MAY make 5 but then we probably get 500 or 800 in 5 doubled.

The more i think the more i am convinced that DBL can be best bid in this hand as oppose to my first reply.
