J lead, if you let it hold

S leads the 8.

 

If you cover it

North wins the ace and switches to the 8 (south will cover the K or T with A/J respectively)

 

 

Plan the play :)

 

 

When (if) you take the spade finesse, N wins (S playing the T) and plays another spade (South discarding an encouraging club)

This is really hard to think how to play this single dummy, because you've given us so much information about the layout. At trick one, South could have been leading from J10xx in diamonds and North could be 2=5=2=4.

 

Now we know the diamond layout I'm going to cover the lead, win the club return in dummy and run the D9.

I probably ruined this problem by giving too much info too early, was late at night, didn't want to stay up waiting for questions.

Teammates found the heart lead and a further declarer slip led to -2. I managed to make it (on the J+8 lead). Gained 11 imps.
