inquiry
welcome to the bridgebase forum SirSatai. I edited your post because you had the contract as 3♥XX by north, it was 3♠XX instead.. which probably why you didn't get any responses. I also deleted where the hand was played, as from that people could look up who directed, who opponents were (etc) too easily. 3♠XX is a touch and go contract. In fact it can make. In fact the line you choose could have gone down. However, at the point the play stopped, there is no line on which you would be set. Here is the hand with bidding and play... [hv=d=w&v=e&n=sqt63hak84djt4c64&w=s942hjt632d9cq973&e=sajhq97dakq6cjt82&s=sk875h5d87532cak5]399|300|Scoring: IMP[/hv] West North East South Pass Pass 1NT Dbl 2♥ Dbl RDbl 3♠ Pass Pass Dbl RDbl Pass Pass Pass D9 D4 D6 D2 C3 C4 CT CK CA C7 C6 C2 H5 H2 HK H7 HA H9 C5 H3 S3 SJ SK S4 S5 S2 S6 SA DA D3 H6 DT At the end, East (on this layout), discard a heart (mistake, pitch two clubs, and partner lead club.. if norht ruffs, you overruff. If north fails to ruff, you pitch a heart, a red card has to be lost).. As everyone can see from this four card ending you can no longer go down.....and the director made a huge mistake. [hv=d=w&v=e&n=sqt63hak84djt4c64&w=s942hjt632d9cq973&e=sajhq97dakq6cjt82&s=sk875h5d87532cak5]399|300|Scoring: IMP[/hv] You lost 5.38 imps for minus one... you could have scored +760 instead of minus 100, and the imp swing is enomous. Recalculating the results would give you +12.3 imps (a swing of 15.5 imps). Of course, bridge is timed game..so both might deserve average minus, but if opponents were slow to avoid the minus 12 imps, you should be awarded +
kastan88
I was TD on this tournament. This board was difficult adjustment and I did mistake, later I changed result to 3♠xx made. Tournament time TD has sometimes lot of adjustments and TD has not too much time for every board he wants to adjust. Needed more time for adjustments after tournay. That means, not good to put out official results list at once, then time is gone. But soft doing so.May be something we can here change? inquiry
Welcome to the BridgeBase forum kastan88. As a director, I hope you come back often and participate in this BBO Tournament Directors Forum. I am sure you will find this forum and the rest of the material here entairtaining if nothing else. And although you may have initially gotten this one wrong, every director has made mistakes, from time to time. And who knows who caused the slow play.. you do the best you can under the circumstances. Ben
